Disappointing but not unexpected. Especially given that XIV had also been delayed and you can usually set your watch by that schedule.

At least it's a covid-related delay rather than the complete rewrite like XV went through. For what it's worth I did think XV was a brilliant game though. It had a nice inverted structure where the game slowly closes down the open world as you near the end rather than the cast taking a 2 week vacation to mop up side quests in the face of the apocalypse like they do in VII

Combat in 15 is absolt want though.

Just hold down circle and you can't control the rest of your party.

It's the game that made me realise I don't actually really like Final Fantasy as a series. Just FF7 :lol:

FFXVI was shown off at today's state of play. Summer 2023 release date. I'm gonna be looking over this frame by frame, but on initial viewing I really like the Eikon designs.

There is also a blogpost on the Sony site about it. It confirms who's actually working on it.

That's a really solid team.

Im not sure, it looks great and all but I feel they are moving further and further away from the stories of the ps1/2 era!

Yeah, it's definitely more in line with the NES/SNES FFs than the PS1/2 ones when it comes to plot and setting. Or at least 7, 8, and 10. Unsurprisingly, given Takahashi's involvement, I get some Ivalice vibes. Mostly Tactics, but it bleeds into 12.

Yoshi gave an interview recently about the game by IGN, I believe.

Seems previews have gone live today as well at a number of outlets

It's basically now a full on Action game and is has 11 hours of cut scenes... This is no longer FF imo. :dread:
