Oh man. Lookat all them juicy spoiler boxes.

I actually still haven't finished this. I got to what was heavily signposted as the last battle and, not wanting it to end, stopped playing. Because that makes sense. Now I've gained such a distance from the story and the characters I can't remember half of the story so any conclusion will be that much less effective.

Go me.

All are excellent. Apparently Black Eagles arebasically the default choice (something like 60% of players choose them first time) and their dudes are good with magic. Golden Deer are good with bows, Blue Lions in brawling.

There's no wrong choice, but the characters of the Eagles were most attractive to me.

Karl_ wrote:I think all interpretations are valid, but have to say I completely disagree with you. I think the whole point of Edelgard's campaign is that the people at the top of society won't give up their power peacefully, so if they are authoritarian and unaccountable (as Rhea is) or corrupt and abusive (as the nobility are) and you want to change society to make it better, you have to be prepared to do unpleasant things to succeed. It's in many ways a very realistic portrayal of a revolution.

The French revolution, for instance, involved a lot of very bloody fighting (and beheadings!), but that reflects the material conditions that the French bourgeoisie found themselves in and magnitude of the change they were trying to achieve. Just because it was violent, doesn't mean it would have been right to leave the aristocracy in charge.

EDIT: I don't know how Edelgard is portrayed in the other campaigns to be fair, and it's possible (I strongly suspect from what you've said, and how these games tend to be written!) that she is a proper villain in those. She does even tell Byleth in a support cutscene that without her at her side, she would have lost her moral bearings, and at the time I thought "Ah, I bet she turns really evil if you pick another route." But in her own campaign I think she is right to do everything she does. For instance, she isn't motivated solely by revenge against the individuals who abused her, which would be understandable but morally dubious; she recognises that the real enemy is the system that allowed it to happen. She has a nuanced, materialist view of the world which is both analytical and pragmatic. That's the reason she sees the existing power structure and hierarchy as a bigger enemy than those who slither despite her personal anger at the latter.

that's the thing though, there were a lot of characters in that game who wanted to change the world for the better but they were all wanting to do it peacefully she went straight for a show of force. and yeah it makes sense that she still has some morals with bylthe at her side as that is the point of the story the world changes dpending on his/her actions, without him/her dimitri is unable to come back from the edge and as for cluade, actually from what ive read claude is fine in most paths i think its just in the crimson flower where he may die, player discretion i believe. but its hard to feel any sympathy for character complaining about the horrors of war that she started and terrible things that those who slither did when it could have been because of her that they were able to do those terrible things. thats probably what they were going for, someone who wants to the right thing but in the wrong way and is unable to see how similar she has become to the person she hates most, her and rhea did terrible things for they thought was the greater good, edlegard started a war to get rid of a corrupt system and rhea was merciless out of fear of what happened in zanado happening again. does that make them evil not necessarily but i doesnt make them good either.

I really need to go back to this. I was 4-5 hours in then got distracted by my backlog.

The story hadn't really clicked with me, I'm not sure whether to restart.

Yeah, the core of our disagreement is that I think violent revolutions are good as long as the system being overthrown is bad. I don't blame revolutionaries for "starting" violent struggles, I blame entrenched establishments who refuse to give up their unjustly wielded powers. (In real life as well as in videogames.)

I understand your opinion though, I don't think you're necessarily wrong I just disagree! :P

I'll be honest, my decision was 60% Petra, 40% Bernie.

As you build up camaraderie between Byleth and other students and teachers, you can eventually pursue a romance. Black Eagles contains the only bisexual male student, so it's arguably the easiest route in which to have a gay romance, if that matters to you.

They are both excellent. I would have pursued Bernie if I could have. I played as fem-Byleth so unfortunately I couldn't pursue either beyond "close friends" (A-rank). Dorothea and Edelgard are the bisexual choices in Black Eagles, but I had recruited Mercedes from Blue Lions as well, so I did have a fair amount of choice; like you I didn't get quite to the end, but I think I would have married Edelgard.

My partner was a bit creeped out by the thing in Tea Time where you can zoom in on their face and make them blush, but I confidently explained that they are "my waifus" while thoughtfully stroking my neckbeard and doffing my fedora, m'lady

NO CONTEXT THIS I DON'T CARE I'M NOT A COWARD

The tea time zooming is the one overtly weird nod towards that...sort of...thing. I feel every woman's points of interest are face and tits (there's a strawberry floating entrant for the out of context thread if I've ever seen one).

As I've played I've actually grown very fond of Shamir so. Yeah.

Probably choose her.

Three Houses kinda does feel like at the start. It drip feeds you battles. I wanted more. Thankfully it does give you that freedom later.

Honestly, the first half of the game is mostly fetch quests, chatting, growing flowers, and fishing. I'd make your peace with it now. :slol:

You could have Mentioned that rather than going on about which ones you wished were 3D so you could put your bits inside

Just did first ‘big’ boss

Loving the fights and story. School building/training is a bit too prominent though and sure I’m screwing up all sorts of leveling/power up options

Same boat. I also got a bit frustrated by not really getting all the monastery stuff and the big gaps between each main battle. At this point it has been over a month, so I think when I pick it back up I will just start again.

The problem is: Pokémon, Luigi's Mansion, Link's Awakening. I don't have time for all this quality content!
