Impressions are VERY positive.

No story spoilers in the above incase anyone is worried.

I have never really played Fire Emblem (a couple of hours of Sacred Stones on GBA, which i own, but thats it).

This looks really good though, and i'm very tempted. It looks like a SRPG version of Persona, though i'm uncertain if the characterization goes as deep. That preview certainly suggests it may well do though.

With Three Houses releasing next week I've decided to write a retrospective of the fire emblem series.
This is part one of three and covers all the western releases.

Pre purchased my copy. Cannot wait to get playing this.

I pre-ordered a special edition that was near £80. Meant to cancel because I am strawberry floated for cash and forgot and have been charged and everything. I hate me.

I orders and prepaid for one copy, then had a scare it had been cancelled and just remembers I orderd it from another place with payment coming out on dispatch, so I could end up with 2 special editions lol

Dispatched this morning

Went dark a long time ago, so know next to nothing about the game. Just gone for the standard edition, as the newer entries are my least favourite entries (didn't even finish Fates, and as a result didn't start Echoes), but have higher hopes for this.

I'm really looking forward to this, but i'm worried by reports of the undocked text size being stupidly small. This could potentially spoil the whole game for me. Hopefully the issue is exaggerated as is so often the case with these things.

Mine has been dispatched by TheGameCollection, likely arriving tomorrow then.

Oh, man, I hope this isn't the case, kaz. I love the Switch but I do dislike it when games have tiny text as it's often not suited for portable play. Some games should have an option to display larger text (alternate user interface) when running in undocked mode.

The smallest text I've experienced was in Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Wii U. I had to move my chair to right in front of the TV in order to read stuff .

Yeah, this would really be a nice QoL feature. The concern is being exacerbated by reports that in docked mode it looks dreadful at times due to aggressive use of dynamic resolution, so undocked is actually better in many ways as the resolution drop is less apparent. But this is the internet, and i'm hopeful that none of these issues will be as dramatic as these reports suggest.

I just got back from work and my copy was sat here waiting for me , gotta love getting stuff early

They are looking good! The Metacritic rating currently stands at 86% after 40 reviews.

I caved yesterday and pre-ordered the standard edition from ShopTo but, unusually for them, I haven't had any email about despatch yet. I hope it arrives tomorrow.
