Now I have to pick it up from the post office tomorrow morning before I go to work.

Never played a FE game, think I might make this my first based on the reviews. I'm in the mood for something to get my teeth into.

Mine allegedly shipped early yesterday morning, from the Nintendo Store. Tracking hasn't updated from 'The sender has let us know this item will be with us soon.' My most anticipated game of this generation, I hope they're not about to let me down.

Going into town tomorrow morning to try and pick it up. Also seen that Fire Emblem Warriors has started going down in price but I'll leave it for now.

Grabbed the digital version from CDKeys for £40, happy with that price.

Nice one, was going to pop into Argos on the way home and pick it up but Digital version at that price is definitely a must-have! :D

Just got back home to find a copy of the game delivered.

jawafour wrote:I caved yesterday and pre-ordered the standard edition from ShopTo but, unusually for them, I haven't had any email about despatch yet. I hope it arrives tomorrow.

I ordered my copy from ShopTo at pretty much the same time and have got it now - despite, like you, not getting an email about it being dispatched. Did check my ShopTo account on there and said it had been shipped, though nothing was showing up on my royail mail tracker.

Krik, yeah, I received my copy from ShopTo today as well :toot: . I know that they're in the midst of upgrading their website so maybe that had impacted their usual delivery messages. I love their reliability, pricing and speedy delivery, but the website is still pretty poor - especially in terms of searching for stuff.

Never mind, we're ready to adventure with the Three Houses!

Put a good 5 hours in so far, went with the Blue Lions as I knew they’d be the least popular house (the designers clearly want people to pick the black eagles for their first play through).
Theres been quite a few system changes but I like them so far.

Weapon weight is back but I still haven’t figured out what it is bring subtracted against. In old games it was either strength or constitution, so in the GBA games it was 7 con - 10 weight = minus 3 speed for example. Units don’t have constitution in this and it isn't using the strength stat from what I’ve seen either. I’ll figure it out eventually.

Magic has changed a lot, you no longer use tomes, magic is learnt and refills at the start of every battle. Magic now ignores terrain bonuses making it the best weapon in the game (also it’s weightless so you’ll double often). All this is balanced by the number of uses now being tied to a units mastery of said magic. It’s a good change if you ask me.

Also the new brand system for bloodlines is a clear throwback to Genealogy of the Holy War and it’s holy bloodlines system.

After 5 hours I have played 4 maps. This isn’t a criticism but it is interesting just how little “fire emblem” you actually play in three houses. I scoffed at the 80 hour per campaign claims but the game really does put a lot of down time between battles.

Also fun fact, because I’m playing on a GameCube controller I can neither zoom out the camera or use time rewind because of the lack of ZL and - buttons lol.

So yeah, so far so fantastic. The game feels like a massive leap forward from Echoes 2 years ago.

My plan was to pick Black Eagles even before I got the game, but after speaking to the house leaders/students and seeing what they were about, I did seriously consider picking Blue Lions. Did warm up to Claude a little, but I found him and his class the least interesting of the three.

Only played about an hour and half before stopping to eat, but so far a good first impression. So nice being able to freely move in 3D around the monastery. Saw this kind of mode/movement in Shadows of Valentia but only for the caves so it's nice to see it in a regular area. Getting some Persona 5 vibes from both the interface and some features in a mostly positive way.

Did see a bit about the game from a couple of the E3 trailers but decided not to look too much into it to keep it fresh for me when I play it. Interesting to see what aspects they've dropped and surprisingly brought back, as well as new stuff. Also random aside, but I like the little sprite on the loading screens. Seems like they're doing the exact idle animation from the GBA games (if it indeed originated there and not in earlier games).

Only done the tutorial fight so far and now I'm speaking to the students and I'm a bit torn between the black eagles and the blue lions. I'm probably gonna stick to my initial plan and go with the black eagles cause Edelgard. :toot:

What's everyone else picking?
