If so, they've ruined Fire Emblem.

I don’t think so? Are you talking about the battle animations?

There looked like a section where there's real time combat. Like one of the students against 3 guys.

It's a 4:04. It could just be the view that make it looks that way.

That looks gorgeous, I remember the graphics looking pretty awful on Awakening on 3DS, but the gameplay in this looks almost as good as the anime FMV in Awakening.

Looking forward to reviews.

I find Anime visuals with British voices quite jarring, case in point: Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

It worked very well in Dragon Quest VIII and the original Xenoblade I think. Setting and tone plays a big part in it.

This looks like they toning down character design, as in, no massive Camilla boobs. I approve.

I like massive boobs. Not really a fan of the box art. Dunno why. Maybe no massive boobs.

I like the character designs but the guy in the middle being upside-down looks dumb.

The LE is up for pre-order on Nintendo's UK Store. There's also a regular edition with just the coin pouch.

Pre-ordered the LE. You never can tell whether they'll be understocked (Fates) or overstocked (SoV), but I like the pin badges and the Steelbook art. The soundtrack selection coming on a USB stick is kinda novel too.

You can't say case in point and then use an example that immediately disproves your argument.

Regarding this, I've only ever played Awakening in the FE Franchise, which I loved but I find the characters here look more...bland in comparison.

Apparently there was a 3DS game after Fates I missed completely. How was Echoes?

A lot of information about this seems to have leaked on Reddit/ResetEra. Not sure how accurate but it's out there if you want to investigate.

I enjoyed what I played but got sidetracked so never progressed a huge amount. It's a remake of the second game which never came out in the West. Despite the new features like side dungeons (with third person camera and free roam) its core gameplay felt more engaging than Fates, possibly because it stemmed from such an old game. I'd recommend it - I'm keen to go back to it but I don't find the the 3DS' sleep mode as conducive as the Switch's and Xenoblade is eating up the little free time I have.

Thanks. Echoes is currently only £17 on Amazon so I might give it a go.

Echoes annoyed me. I liked it, but the level design is annoying as strawberry float at times. It starts to become a slog towards the end of the game.

Plus yer woman in it is a total strawberry floating moron.

After the direction they went in with Awakening and Fates, Echoes was a welcome change to something that felt more like traditional Fire Emblem. If nothing else I loved the writing and support conversations of the supporting cast. The writing can be far more nuanced when it isn’t tied to a marriage and parenting mechanic. Music is among the best in the series. Dungeons give you plenty to do outside the main quest.
Biggest complaint with the game is the DLC. Season pass costs more than the full priced game and it has never been on sale.
