If the battle doesn’t have deaths the game will tell you before starting.

I can’t remember what it said. I’ve put the switch into standby until I get a definite answer!

I've seen some complaints - how's the UI/text size in this for people with bad eyes (through a big tv...not handheld mode)

It seems perfectly fine to me, and I wear glasses to ensure good vision. But if your eyesight is less than stellar I can see how it could be an issue. I also think all the graphical criticisms are massively overblown, it runs perfectly fine to me (cue better glasses required jibes).

This is easily going to be my game of the year. I love everything about it.

well im still bumbling my way through the game, kind of wish there was a way to raise character levels outside of battle cause if anyone falls behind it becomes very hard to have them catch up, especially when you end up in a battle with a npc who insta kills everyone reducing the exp you can get

The game let’s you pair characters up later on so you can level them up that way.

I take it you never played Awakening and tried to level up Donnell then? That was a nightmare, but so worth it!

Every game has that character, in Three Houses it's Cyril. I forget the name, but they have a unique ability meaning when they level up there's a chance that every stat will increase, so the early struggle pays off massively when they're an absurd beast in the endgame.

Lysithea is the MVP of my team. Her magic damage is outrageous, been purposefully putting her in the bench just so others can attempt to reach her level.

I'm still really early in the game, only just got to the start of the month with the assassination plot.
Hubert is becoming quite the magical powerhouse, but strawberry floating hell is he a massive banana split.

Started this today, battles are as good as ever, not really sold on the monastery stuff. It's like having a strawberry floating job. I haven't enjoyed doing any of that stuff.

Chose the Golden Deers.

I feel like this game does a really poor job of feeding you gameplay concepts in an accessible way. I find it hard remembering most of this stuff. It just throws way too much at you, in too short a time frame.

Also Golden Deer appears to be the hard route according to a lot of people, and I don't actually remember the game telling you this (I may have missed this admittedly). Lost a guy during the fight, thought it was a practice bout, saved over my slot. It wasn't. He was one of fighters, team seems slightly weighed more towards indirects, which doesn't really fit my play style.

I may restart it and choose a different house. But then I'd have to play through all that guff again. Ewww.

Golden Deer is much more long term investment based than Blue Lions were in my run with them. On the upside if you pull it off you’ll have an army of Wyverns to wreck everything later on. At least that is what I’m training them towards.

Ended up just restarting and choosing Edelgard. The units seem a bit more balanced/easier to use.
