How does golden eagle even fit into the rhyme?!

Yep, I remember it as...

First the worst
Second the best
Third the one with the hairy chest
Fourth the golden eeeeagle.

I had honestly forgotten all about that rhyme, this had really made me smile this evening!

My wife had just told me that she remembers it as 'Fourth the one in the donkey's nest'.

I remember the golden eagle as well :lol:

no idea why it fits in there.

I have literally never heard the hairy chest one, but it makes more sense with the rhyme I guess.

I was thinking exactly this. And then I sung it out in my head and the golden eagle bit came straight back into memory. Totally surprised me! :lol:

I seem to remember 'fifth the ladies jumper' as well, although this may have been a local addition.

I feel like there was more but that the words have been lost to the ages now.

It seems like my school was a lot more lyrically inventive than everyone else's too.

I fail to see the practical application of asserting someone is a ghost eating toast while climbing up a lamppost. I honestly can't even tell if that is supposed to have positive or negative connotations.

Would the person coming fourth place sing said rhyme, like in second, or would it be sung at their expense, like in first?
