First the Worst, Second the Best ... What Comes Next?!

Dropping the kids off at school this morning and they were singing this classic rhyme in the playground. However, since moving from Cheltenham to Cardiff they were complaining that the kids here do it differently!

Chatting to people at work who are from all over the UK originally it seems there may be plenty of regional variants.

Third seems to be pretty much universally agreed as "the one with the hairy chest" but number four onwards starts to see some diversion - I've heard it being the golden eagle, treasure chest, king, and even angel!

When I was a kid it was always:

First the worst,
Second the best,
Third the one with the hairy chest,
Fourth the one with a golden eagle... And I can't remember if it went beyond that or not!

So out of curiosity - how did this kids rhyme go when you were growing up?

Like I say, folks at work are aware of numbers beyond 3 and I've googled this and there are loads of other suggestions out there going up to 6 and beyond.

Happy to, you'll have to wait though as I was only on a half day today. And I'm not emailing back in to work to say "hey, an orange raccoon from an internet forum wants everyone to rank the Die Hard movies"!

Fourth or fifth was generally the squashed tomato, but we used to go up to 10 and beyond sometimes.

It's the rhyme that all us ~~cool~~ kids would say after getting changed following swimming.

Wow I forgot all about this rhyme. It's cool!

Third the hairy princess (Prestwick, Scotland)

I only remember it going as far as the third one 'officially' which was always hairy chest, after that it was basically the silliest thing you could think of.
