To be fair, at the time I was quite confused why he didn't just demonstrate with a piece of meat.
You can literally see the meat recoil from the shock of the heat.. but his explanation always stuck in my head.. probably because of stupid it was

It's not a million miles a from the scallop/bellend comparison. A perfectly-cooked scallop should feel like the tip of a penis. :datass:

Erect, semi or flaccid?

I'd say semi. Certainly 'awake', at the very least.

Steak is out of the fridge getting ready to go in the oven at 7.

The plan is,

1) Preheat oven to 110C
2) Put steak in the oven for approximately 25 minutes, until internal temperature is around 45-50 degrees (I went out and bought a meat thermometer)
3) Have oil in a cast-iron pan ready at maximum heat
4) Put steaks onto pan for about 45 seconds to 1 minute per side, including the edges
5) Let rest for 5 minutes before eating

Heat the pan before putting the oil in, makes it much easier to work with.

I thought the chefs preferred method was to pan sear the steak before roasting it.

I can't really eat most meats any more so I'm actually quite envious.

I'm sure it could be done better, but I don't think it turned out too badly,

Mate looks great, I'd smash strawberry float out if it!
Maybe hotter pan / longer in the pan... But great effort buddy!

Sorry I didn't respond to the tin foil debate... What did you go with in the end?

Before you took the pic you should have put it on a British flag (to soak up the grease)

No tin foil in the end.

Don't think I could get the pan much hotter, there was a literal column of flames when I put it in at first
Maybe a tad too much oil.

Just had some of the Meatless Farm veggie sausages and they're probably the best I've ever eaten. Certainly the closest, texture-wise, to meat ones. Only problem is they don't seem to be stocked that widely, my local Sainsbos doesn't have them. Worth trying though if you're looking to eat less meat.

At long last!! Chick Fill-A has opened a store in the uk (not a pop up)
https://chick-fil-a.co.uk
Seriously the best chicken sandwich I have ever had when I stumbled upon it whilst transiting through Philadephia airport

Don't gooseberry fool the bed just yet.

It's opened in a cursed corner of the Oracle in reading.
Funky, trendy restaurants open there and barely last 8 months.

It's above a pret, which is better value, tastier and healthier.
And the opposite end of the shopping centre to the actual food court / Riverside restaurants. I give it a year.

Also, aren't they massively homophobic?

The issue is that Chick-fil-a donate to anti-LGBT groups

I guess they didn’t want to fillet with mayo.
