Went to The Ivy last night. My lamb was alright, but his pork chop was mental tasty.

The actual original "The Ivy" or one of "The Ivy Collection" restaurants that are dotted around the country?

Went to the one in Cheltenham a few times and was very impressed with it, excellent food and a great setting. There's one opening up in Cardiff soon which I'm keen to get along to as well!

The one just opened in Glasgow. Not quite as good as OG but the quality reflects the price.

Went to a restaurant near the office for lunch, first time seeing Nasi Goreng on a menu so I had to partake, it was delicious as it always is but there was no fried egg on top so it felt incomplete.

Popped into Iceland and noticed Gino Di'Campo has his own range of ready meals. I got the meatballs and cooked it in the oven and had it with pasta. Wow it was so tasty the meatballs and the sauce!
I recommend you guys to try them too

Might look into that. I have a tonne of rice in the house (true story: I did a No Deal Brexit stockpile in March  ).

So I need some good ideas for new rice dishes to mix it up a bit.

Looks lush. It actually looks pretty festive. Is it a meal in itself or did you have it with stuff?

I did it as part of a vegetarian buffet at a christmas party with some other middle eastern dishes (things like borekas, muhammara, hummus, falafel).

Nasi Goreng is a winner, its handy enough to make too, you can tweak it any way you like, just get that fried egg on there.

Love a bit of Nasi Goreng. When I was in Indonesia the food was absolutely brilliant, at all times.

Has anyone got any recommendations for good vegetarian recipe books, or a good online resource? I'm trying to cook more meat free meals, but struggling to find a variety of recipes that are getting me interested.

My favourite veggie cookbook is Hugh F-W's Veg every day. Its excellent, has a good mix of food from different countries and doesn't insist on difficult to buy ingredients.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cottage-Fearnl ... g+e&sr=8-4

The follow up is also good but is vegan and I can't live without cheese. Delia's veggie book from a few years ago is also good as are the recent ones from Nigel Slater (greenfeast I think).

Thanks, guess I'll pick up the HFW book and give it a go.

I've actually got one of the Nigel Slater Greenfeast books, but it's the spring /summer one, so it's a bit more salad based than I'd like.

I think I'm struggling to get away from thinking about meat as the centerpiece of most meals, and consequently viewing a lot of vegetarian meals as looking like side dishes with the meat component missing.

I made pork mince bolognese sauce on Saturday, I was planning on having the rest of it today but my fresh pasta was going a bit funny and I had to throw it out. Now I wasn’t gonna waste half a pan of bolognese so I improvised... Sloppy Joes.

I picked up some fresh buns and extra mature cheddar on the way home from work, grilled the buns with the cheese on them while the sauce was reheating in the microwave. I might have overfilled the buns a little bit man was that a delicious meal.

Bolognese sauce also works well in toasted sandwiches :datass:

As does the wild boar sauce sold at Carluccios but it's a bit expensive to have regularly.
