Big new features:

Improved transfer negotiations including a new live negotiation feature similar to contract negotiations
Improved interaction with players, staff and media
Enhanced user interface
Improved 3D match engine with better AI, animation, models and reactions
Redesigned tactics system and adaptive tactical AI for rival managers
More realistic contract negotiations and board interactions
Overhauled news system colour-coded for specific categories

Miles Jacobson did a brief interview with IGN http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/08/14/f ... provements

Live transfer negotiations sounds good. Read somewhere there's some added clauses in transfers such as loaning the player straight back to the team you purchased them from.

Not sure I'll get it straight away, enjoying my current save.

Of course I'll be getting it straight away. I plough so many hours in it makes it worth it. But this year it seems there is a price increase. RRP showing on Amazon as £45  I'll wait to see the steam price.

Ah man, might be the first year since 97/98 I don't buy the game. I just never have time or inclination to do it these days.

This is the only game I have to force myself not to buy as I know the consequences can be disastrous.

So is anyone else getting this? I caved today and bought it from Steam, looking forward to giving the beta a good try tonight after work.

I'm getting the Vita version as I'd love some football manager action on the go.

I've been playing the beta since it was available and it's excellent, some cracking little tweaks to the general interface which make it much more fluid, and what seems to be a much more in-depth set of tactical options.

It's Football Manager, so you know it's good, but this version is impressive, and a clear evolution from last year.

Totally worth it.

It's much tougher playing as Villa manager than it has been in the last few years versions, though. :dread:

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

3D match engine seems a lot better than 2013, but I've still seen a few daft strawberry float ups like the keeper palming the ball into the goal from the slowest shot ever, the keeper warping through the goals and players just simply refusing to tackle the opposition and backing off. I hope stuff like this is sorted in the final version. There seem to be much less of poor teams on bad runs of form suddenly switching to beast mode as well.

One thing that really bugs me is the amount of knocks that players get during matches according to the little actions window. It's ridiculous, I hope that gets toned down.

EDIT: just seen this on Twitter:
Miles Jacobson ‏@milesSI 11m
If all goes to plan, the demo of #FM14 & an updated beta (lots of bug fixes/new match engine version) will be released on Monday evening GMT

Have you clicked on "Load Game" instead of "Load Last Game"? My save was there.

I am planning on getting 2014, missed out on last year's as I was (and still am) too attached to my 2012 saves.

Although just checking my Steam account I maybe should find something more productive to spend my time doing...

Think I'll wait for the Xmas sale or when it drops to £20

This is the first year I've not got it at launch, interest in the series waned last year. Normally raked up hudreds of hours of gameplay and last year not that much.

Hopefully the Vita version will get me back.
