You guys

We're not there yet, for a title challenge we need a better injury record (which seems to be improving), and a better striker. I like Giroud but I don't think he's quite at the level we need. Petr Cech would certainly make us stronger, although if Szczesny started performing like he did in 2013/14 we'd be alright.

The important thing is that we're no longer financially constrained, meaning we can keep a consistent squad and build on it each year rather than having to replace our best players every summer.

How those players fortunes have changed - and they're not Chamakh or Denilson level players, they're both established internationals (one's a World Cup winner!) - is irrefutable proof of the progress made.

Poor Chammers, why do Arsenal fans hate him so much? He was never THAT bad was he? Not that he ever got a good run in the team mind, given Van Persie's form at the time too...

Most technically gifted player I've seen at Palace since Lombardo, and he loves it

I don't hate him, he was just a massive let down after a good start. He had a good run in the team before RVP came back from injury, but when he found himself second choice he just seemed to stop bothering, which was really frustrating. I was using him to show that we haven't upgraded from players like Chamakh, we've upgraded from players significantly better than Chamakh, which shows how much we've progressed.

Chamakh was absolutely terrible for us, but I'm glad he's improved at Palace. Still has atrocious hair though

Has he been that much better at Palace? He hasn't scored many goals

He plays much better behind the striker, so his hold-up play and general ability comes in a lot more, even if his assist rate is also poor... He does rarely shoot though, hence the 3 goals this season, the latter 2 (I don't remember the first) were both extremely well taken ones and showed some class...

I get the feeling that he's one of those players that thrives off positive stuff coming from the stands, when he first came we were all a bit hesitant on him being the poor player he was at Arsenal, but he's either gained work ethic or wanted to prove himself again... Certainly a player where those focused with statistics in the game would ignore how good a player he really is...

I would love to see him play with Gayle up top, that would be an interesting combination, but Gayle just isn't a good lone striker so I doubt that'll happen...

His hair is still fantastic

Liverpool lads - Would you be happy if we sold Sterling for £50 million and with that money, we got Clyne, Bacca/Rondon and Firmino?

James Pearce has said we're looking into those 3 so I'm inclined to believe we are.

I'd be suprised if £50million bought you those three. Bacca's reputation has got stratospheric now.

Bacca has a £21.5 million release clause according to a lot of papers.
But I can't really see FSG sanctioning that much money for a 28 year old.
Rondon is younger and would probably cost a bit more, but fits FSGs transfer policy.

Clyne we are a few million of matching Southamptons valuation, so I wasn't really including that.

No idea how much Firmino would go for, but I'm guessing a fair bit.

BBC don't usually write those sort of stories.

Guaranteed they both sign a new contract with their clubs.

For those that haven't seen in the Sky thread

BT sport price for Sky customers Image

For HD, it is £23.99. If you ring them and commit to a 12 month contract, they'd give you £5 off per month.

Does this affect those of us who have paid for BT for several years already, or is it a new subscriber price?

Either way, money grabbing bastards.

Oh for anyone interested the Europa League and Champions League first qualifiers were drawn today. Celtic picked up an Icelandic team who put Motherwell to the sword last season in the second round of CL qualifiers.

It's for existing and new customers, who watch BT on Sky.

If you a BT broadband customer then it is a extra £5 per month.
