Noooo! That can’t be real. I simply don’t believe that.

Wait, so Sterling's saying his Dad was shot dead when he was a kid and so because of that he's got a tattoo of an assault rifle? :fp:

This is why he got it.

The outrage over it is ridiculous but not unexpected given he's a young black rich footballer.

No, he's saying "shoot with your feet".

I can't tell if this post is a joke or not. :slol:

Bizarre either way. Oh well. There's no denying The Sun's obsession with this is ridiculous, but it's not like they don't do it before most tournaments. Whether it's Gascoigne, Beckham, Rooney, etc, anybody high-profile that they can stick the boot into before a world cup is par for the course.

I saw the interview yesterday with the founder of Mothers Against Guns on Sky News and she was outraged. She actually called it disgusting, but I don't know if she meant the tattoo itself or the perception of it.

She was referring to the tattoo and was calling for Sterling to have it removed or covered up, which it will be, by his sock. Job done.

The Rag instigated all of this, they took the story and rang a woman who's son was shot dead to comment about it. I'm no fan of Sterling but it's simply racism at this stage.

I think anyone that thinks Sterling's treatment in the Sun (and the Daily Mail) is the same that other England players have faced are being incredibly naive. Some of the stuff in this twitter thread is ridiculous.

This one in particular is pretty disgusting:

The Guardian had an okay article about it the other day but couldn't bring themselves to call it racism so just referred to it as "tabloid snobbery" instead https://www.theguardian.com/football/sh ... are_btn_tw

Thankfully, they had another article about it today from someone that actually knows what they're talking about https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... ler-tattoo

I guess newspaper editors are allowed to incite racial hatred, right? I'm not even sure if they really are or not but seeing as these banana splits do it all the strawberry floating time I guess there's no way they will ever be held to account.

This is what the Sun did for the entire Brexit campaign and what the Daily Mail have been doing for years.

banana splits ran "stories" slagging him off for buying his mum a sink and they're trying to claim they're taking the moral high-ground? It's just a strawberry floating tattoo and it's none of their strawberry floating business.

Sounds like you are a nitwit celeb or a gormless keyboard warrior. Nobody supports England more than The Sun! Nobody!

When England go out of the World Cup in the group stages I look forward to Sterling's tattoo somehow being blamed. That or him being tired.

That thread of Sun articles is insane. I obviously use the term 'articles' loosely.

What a vile rag it is. I can't even comprehend seeing a headline saying that someone eats strawberry floating pasties and actually opening it up to read it. The sad thing is, these are the kind of halfwits who voted in the referendum :dread: .

I've never really cared or taken notice of Sterling, other than he's a good player. But now I feel I should actively support him.
