Indeed. It was a pen.

Football is blighted by diving and players creating fouls by leaving a leg hanging etc. It’s impossible to say from the replay of this whether the contact was enough to send him to the floor. However he was impeded by the Rochdale player and that makes it a pen.

What I hate is when there’s contact and a player clearly throws himself on the floor or up into the air, arching their back, rolling around clutching a part of their body that wasn’t even touched and gets a pen. Then the pundits condone it by saying that there was contact and deserved to go down.

It looks like he's already falling over as the contact's made to me.

Hmmm maybe. My initial thought was that it was a dive but after the replays I thought penalty.

The guy planted his foot and Ali threw himself over it.

Classic Ali.

Certainly not the worst penalty decision of the season (Welbeck against United in my opinion). I went the other way to you (initially I though it was a pen) so I can see why the ref gave it. It was a difficult decision for him, and Alli is very good at what he does.

Spurs are so nice, letting all the lower league teams have replays at Wembley.

Wembley has for too long been hogged by the big boys, it’s supposed to be the nations stadium so we just want to share the experience around whilst we can.

Yeah. For me the game just showed how demotivated a lot of our players are like Llorente, who is quickly becoming a joke worse than Soldado and Alderweireld needs to be sold as soon as the transfer window opens. Its obvious he doesn't want to play for the club anymore and although Rose did okay, you can see he doesn't care either. I believe we will get £150m for those two and should get adequate replacements, maybe put in a bid for Luke Shaw, who can only play well under Poch.

I like how Poch freezes out players who are clearly leaving the club in the following season. Walker did it last season and it allowed Trippier to progress a little, although I feel that we need a good right back if we want to win the league.

If Van Dyke is £75m and Walker £50m, Alderweireld is £100m and Rose £50m, so in this bloody world!

Van Dyke was 1 year into a 5year deal, and just as flat rate I don't see Alderweireld being any better than Virgil who is the world most expensive defender lets not forget.

I can see Spurs getting in the region of £50m for Rose but Alderweireld has a release clause that’s pretty cheap - something like £20m - but I think it kicks in at the end of next season. So you’ll probably get about half that sum.

Hes very much sought after and will easily get £80m to £125m largely because his ball distribution is excellent.

Alderweireld's release clause is something weird like it can only be activated two weeks before the end of the summer transfer window next year if Spurs extend his contract. He's the best CB in the league and it's bizarre they put a clause in like that given what Spurs are like with selling their players.

£50 million for Walker does make Rose around that much to be fair, they're both pretty similar style of defenders...

Levy of course is the trump card for any player Spurs end up selling...

Rose is injury prone. Big risk if club pays £50m for him.

He’s only come close to achieving 30 appearances in the league during one season for Spurs.

Levy can have all the cards he wants, if a player wants to go then they will end up going. Potch doesn’t seem the type of manager who wants negative influences in his dressing room, so will be eager to sell.
