What happened with Close Encounters? I swear it was up for like a day then disappeared, unless I just wasn't paying attention. It's a shame, I quite enjoyed it, the sky battles got a bit insane with it.

Got taken down -

We heard your feedback about Close Encounters and will be evaluating the effect sky bases have on this LTM.

To replace this we've brought back Solid Gold after seeing how much you enjoyed it. Happy Weekend!

GENERAL

Turbo Build: Structures now build faster after the first building piece is placed.
Your first structure is built 0.15 seconds after holding the button (unchanged), any additional structures built while Turbo Building are placed after 0.05 seconds.
This fixes the issue that was occasionally causing a structure not to place when quickly building.
The reason there’s a difference in timing between the first structure placed (0.15s) and Turbo Built structures (0.05s) is to allow additional time for players to switch structure type or rotate pieces.
Added a toggle for 'Edit Mode Aim Assist' ingame options.
This has always been enabled for controller users. You now have the option to enable or disable this feature.
Edit Mode Aim Assist attracts your aim towards the closest building square and partially confines your crosshair to the building piece your editing.
Save the World and Battle Royale now have their own unique loading screens following mode select.

Bug Fixes
Turbo Building is no longer cancelled when cycling through Traps to get to a new building piece on your quick bar.
The "out of resources" sound effect no longer plays repeatedly while trying to Turbo Build without any resources.
Menu sliders no longer become unresponsive on controllers after a tooltip pops up.
Having a full backpack will no longer cause picked up items to disappear when dropped on the ground.
Fixed issues while aiming diagonally when using a controller.
The stick input was not correctly translating into camera rotation causing the camera to never reach its maximum turn rate when aiming diagonally.
Camera input curves have also been slightly tuned to account for the change in diagonal aiming speeds.
Fixed player movement corrections upon landing from a jump after activating sprint mid-air.
Fixed a crash that could happen when logging out.
Fixed an issue that caused black line streaks to appear on other players far off in the distance

It looks like Fortnite is heading to Nintendo Switch

World-conquering battle royale game Fortnite appears to be heading to Nintendo Switch.

The Korean game ratings board rated Fortnite for Switch this morning (via Resetera), not long after a separate sighting on a list of E3 games leaked on 4ch*n overnight - a list we independently heard is legitimate.

We also heard, prior to these events, Fortnite was coming to Switch.

It's no surprise; in addition to desktop computers, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Fortnite is already available on iOS, and an Android version is in the works.

Heya Fortnite folks,

One of our goals for Fortnite is to have a number of ways to play the game and be successful. We’ve identified some strategies that are overly dominant and we’ll be making some adjustments today. Going forward we’ll continue to monitor how we can best support that gameplay variety.

Here are some of the immediate changes coming today!

Shotguns
For awhile we felt that Shotguns promoted healthy close quarter gameplay, however with the recent equip time changes, Shotguns are being used more often than we like. It's something we've been keeping an eye on, but broadly speaking we feel Shotguns are a little too strong in their current state. As a result, we’re making these adjustments:

Pump Shotgun
Headshot multiplier reduced from 2.5 to 2.0
Damage reduced from 90/95 to 80/85
Tactical Shotgun
Headshot multiplier reduced from 2.5 to 2.0

Shotgun consistency across the board is also something we're looking into and aim to improve. We want to make it more apparent when you hit or miss a shot. In addition to that, making sure the accuracy is more consistent and improving other odd behaviors with the weapon is a top priority. We've identified a number of issues that we're currently working on solving in the near future.

Traps
We made a large change to traps a few weeks ago to test decreasing damage from 125 to 75. This was done in an effort to better understand the impact traps have throughout a match. The change sparked a great deal of excellent discussion about traps and we are going to lean more into improving their effectiveness. We want this to add more ways for you to be potent in combat. Here’s the change:

Trap Damage increased from 75 to 150

Jetpack
The Jetpack was introduced as a Limited Time Item. You can learn more on the goals of Limited Time Items as a concept in this post.

We will be vaulting the Jetpack at 8am on Monday, June 11. Get in your last matches before then! We may bring back the Jetpack at a future date with some improvements and new changes.

Drop in, try ‘em out and let us know what you think of the changes!

https://www.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/com ... ck_update/

Nice Changes.

New players will now start with the same default sensitivity for both horizontal and vertical aim.
Added a quick visual transition to building pieces as you move and aim in Build Mode.

I was just driving home and my podcasts ran out so I started listening to radio 2 and Jeremy Vine talking about Fortnite addiction. My God.

I would say it was hilariously ill informed and sensationalist but it was actually troubling. I thought the BBC was above this kind of gooseberry fool. Vine went out of his way to ignore anything experts said and claimed anyone who did something like this for 2 hours a day is addicted. They had a boy in the studio playing who came across as a perfectly normal 13 year old kid but instead Vine focussed on the disturbing behaviour of killing 99 people and then dancing on their corpse. Rather than looking to offer any guidance on how concerned parents can stay informed or how to make show your kid has a healthy balance of activities in their life, instead they focussed on sensationalism and demands for regulation.

Utterly utterly shameful. I actually think I’ll complain to the BBC it was so bad.

I’m sure it’s on iPlayer if any wants to listen in horror.

Jeremy Vine is an ageing literature nerd with no grasp of or connection to anything anyone under 40 might find enjoyable. It's a shame the BBC are looking to people like him to 'investigate' videogames.

It's basically just survival of the fittest in game form, where you need to constantly be aware of who might be nearby and find viable weapons to defend yourself. The combat can be a bit clunky, but it works. As for watching it... again it comes down to the same thing except you can't control what's happening.
...
That was probably a bad pitch of appeal, but it's the best I've got.
