Sure, why not. I've become incredibly jaded with racing games recently and while i don't think this is going to bring me back in a major way, it will probably be fun.

The expansion has downloaded for me, 6GB but unless I'm being stupid I can't play it yet. $20.

You'll have to wait for Thursday to play it. Good to know that preload is available for it, though.

And OR, you should give it a try. This is probably as close to the old LEGO Racers games as we'll be getting for quite a while, and with the Forza handling mechanics, you can be sure it'll control well.

Have we seen the full map of the world yet?

Is it too much to hope for the LEGO Racers to be in this :shifty:

That'd be a nice link to the old games to be there, and considering all the people are LEGO, I wouldn't be surprised if there was someone who looked like the old characters.

They could have each of the racers as a regional bosses and we could have a Forza Horizon 1 style campaign with those named drivers. Now we are just inventing a better game than the generic races this will end up being

It does depend on how big the map actually ends up being. Those achievements do make it sound like its just following the same structure as the main game. The Horizon 1 style could have worked here, with races and PR stunts needing to be completed to earn the right to race the named driver. The drivatar system wouldn't allow that, though.

So, I say instead Playground Games make a proper LEGO Racers remake/reboot with the same structure as the original.

I was holding out for a Goodwood, or London circuit map. I will reserve judgement until ive seen the map. But this looks a bit gooseberry fool.

I know people were expecting something different, but the reaction on the Forza forums... As if Playground are going to waste all the resources and money spent on making this expansion - especially the licencing costs to even use the LEGO brand - by pulling it from ever releasing on the day it's meant to be out.

Watching a Lego F40 racing a proper Pagani Huayra is a bit bizarre.

There's another 6-8 GB update to play the expansion, this is in addition to the update released earlier this week.

Waiting for that to do at the minute. I'll soon be driving around this LEGO world.

This is stupid. MS need to fix updating their games on PC. It's so much pissing about just to get the update. Just have the strawberry floating thing auto update. This will be the third update today just for FH4 I have had to download which included the lego expansion.

My strawberry floating god how slow is this update 60Mb/s, I could do faster with wet string and 2 tin cans.

The lego world is cute, but very quickly it becomes more of the same game. I'll keep it around as my go-to filler game when i don't want to play something with a story (and i've sacked off almost every other racing game i have as part of a wider purge), especially when proper rivals mode comes back in the near future, but this was never going to fundamentally change the gameplay.
