I keep forgetting about the free motors. They’ve had a free one every day in December and I’ve claimed just one :fp:

Tbh the game throws cars at you so often I have a massive garage and have barely driven any of them. I might pop on later and grab these though.

True  I also have about 100 million in cash now to actually buy any car I want too

I like how when you win a car on the gambling machine and you already have it in your garage it asks if you want to sell it instead of keeping it. I wish there was a way to sell all of the duplicates in your garage before that was feature was added though, it takes so long to sell cars manually

Wow this game never ends. I had a Forza update pushed to my 1X last night, so it may be active already? It’s a game I dip in to every couple of months and play for a few hours. It’s excellent, but there is not much sense of progression so I do feel like I am wasting time fiddling around on occasion. That being said it is great fun just to bumble around in.

Outside of the game "completion" treadmill it really is a game where you have to make your own fun. I'm not great, but after watching one too many IRL hillclimb videos I now like taking unassuming cars and making them into either rally monsters or hillclimbers, both in the "sensible classic car sunday club" sense with realistic upgrades that don't stray too far from the original (better brakes, rollcage, weight reduction etc.) and in the "ludicrous monstrous engine in something that didn't have one" sense:

I'm in 2 minds about this game. While it looks fantastic and the traffic can be quite good it still feels rather sterile and dead somehow.
My main problem is the way you just crash straight through stone walls without any feeling of impact. It just completely destroys the immersion for me as does the fact you can have super lowered hypercars able to move on dirt tracks.

It's a great game that I spent a lot of time with but the sheer number of cars means they all become a bit pointless and less special somehow.
I'm looking forward to what the developers can do with the extra power of next gen but something needs to change and maybe it means a smaller and more focused game with maybe just a few really well done cities and a rural area inbetween rather than a sprawling map.

I hope that made some sense.

It sounds like you are wanting a more open work Forza Motorsport rather than Horizon. Horizon is prodominently an arcade game, its Forzas answer to Need for Speed.

All I do now is buy pretty standard, everyday cars and turn them into sleepers.

I recently spend over a million on a Rover SD1 in the auction, so I could have a bog standard one, and a sleeper.

Thread resurrection!

As suspected by many, Forza Horizon 3 is reaching end-of-life status with hefty discounts on the Microsoft Store. It will be removed from sale on the 27th of September. It doesn't sound like it's coming to Games with Gold like the previous titles.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-08-12-forza-horizon-3-reaching-end-of-life-status-being-removed-from-sale-in-september

Standard edition is £6.59 and the ultimate edition is £17.99. The separate DLC items are on offer as well as the 'Ultimate' upgrade itself if you already have the standard edition.

It's worth noting that Horizon 3 does not have a 'performance mode' on the Xbox One X (i.e. 60 fps) - the X enhancement is improved 4k graphics. It does look stellar though. As such, the switch from 4 to 3 is a bit jarring initially if you've been playing Horizon 4 in performance mode.

I don't use performance mode because Dem Graphics :datass:

but yes, Horizon 3 looks gorgeous, REALLY looking forward to Horizon 4 at 4K/60

Yep, thats fast. Cant remember how long it took on 1X, but that looks like a significant QoL improvment.

Posted this in the console thread:

So excited to play Forza Horizon. They are the games I've spent the whole last gen being jealous I couldn't play. I've got physical copies of 2 and 3, but not sure how to approach them. I could play them one by one, or just sort of play them all at once. It would be nice to start 4 now and get involved in some online stuff.

Will there be much GRcade activity on this once the Series X comes out? I'm terrible at racing, but love driving games.

I still jump on every once in a while even if I'm just driving around. If you do feel you have the skills of a drifter, you can attempt to beat my records once you join the GRcade club for the game. I don't think many have done races together, but there's every possibility with an increase in the population round here getting Series consoles multiplayer sessions can be arranged for the future.

As for the other games in the series, just play them as and when. Doesn't really make much of a difference, as the only real differences are location and festival itinery. The second game has a road trip type thing where you visit three of the cities around France and Italy, and take part in a tournament at each. The third has you working to build fame to open up new festival locations around Australia.

It took about a minute before, this is game changing  I can finally sell all my duplicate cars I have from wheelspins (you have to get in a car to sell it - which means loading)

Great news. Look forward to going back to it (not just for the load times, it’s a really fun game).
