They better have the Austin Metro in this as that's one sweet ride  .

I'm genuinely disappointed that the Allegro, Metro (proper one, not the MG rally one), Maestro, Montego and Ambassador weren't added to FH4

They did add a lot of gooseberry fool in the end. I think I remember boosting the performance of that 3 wheeled monstrosity for an achievement.

I do have a beast of a Rover SD1, and a frankly illogical Austin Seven.

Everyone knows you can make an Austin Princess that would easily win an F1 season if you just chuck enough turbos and nitrous on it.
Don't forget the weight reduction as well.

I did the entire game in the Mini in FH4. Which really is the problem: I hope they’ve gotten rid of the ability to scale races to your favourite cars. Being forced to use vehicles you are uncomfortable with is a fun part of the learning curve.

More story missions sounds good so long as they are relevant to the festival backdrop and not just random crap like the LaRacer or Taxi stuff from 4. I did enjoy the movie one with the director that sounded like Sean Bean and I thought the British Racing Green documentary was really interesting.

ALSO: Any word on them having gotten rid of wheelspibs and letting us actually buy the items of clothing we want for our characters? This pissed me off no end in 4 which is actually the worst game in the series.

The way they've gone with FH now it means you kind of have to make your own fun as part of the focus on increased accessibility and freedom to do what you want; in that it can go too far and leave the game a bit aimless unless you set your own limits and goals. I think the change from FH2 to 3 and thus on to 4 is that FH isn't really a racing game anymore, it's a car game, which may seem like splitting hairs but there is a difference, in that now it's about doing...stuff in cars rather than racing specifically. I think in one of the preview streams they mentioned that they've taken inspiration from other open world games and that you can progress without doing a single actual race if you don't want to, I can't remember which one it was. That's not necessarily a bad thing per se, just the direction they're taking it.

The blurb for the VIP pass mentions "weekly bonus Super Wheelspins" so that's a no. I still maintain that wheelspins were probably intended to be available for real money in FH4 until the SW Battlefront 2 debacle hit a year before release, given they were padded out from just cash and cars to include the usual filler tat you find in lootboxes and that MS have a history of trying all kinds of grubby monetisation systems with Forza until the backlash gets odious enough.

That’s an interesting take Trelliz, and I reckon probably true.

I like to focus on one game at a time, especially a semi story driven one. I have tended to play FH3 and 4 quite a lot (20+ hours) before getting a bit bored of them, and they get a bit difficult/grindy. But, i keep them installed for 30 mins here and there, as they are great to drop in and out of, especially between games of bigger commitments.

I’ve got the dlc from Iceland. I’ll get the game on Gamepass and it will stay installed on my system for years I reckon. I’m not sure I’d pump £50+ into buying the game outright if I wasn’t on gamepass, unlike say Halo, which I absolutely would.

Good time to be on gamepass.

Yeah, starting from FH3, the series started to become more of a driving game rather than specifically racing. And it's going further with that concept with the minigames, expanded creator, and a focus on exploring rather than just the racing. I've avoided a lot about this one so I can explore everything it offers for myself. I also really want to see what they do with the map expansions this time around. We could be in for something very interesting, especially if they were to go to the likes of Cuba or Brazil.

Preview embargo has lifted so there's loads of video previews popping up.

The Devs seem to be enthusiastic that the X1 version should be a looker too. FH2 still looks pretty good IMO, especially the way the rain comes in, leaves puddles and evaporates.

I wish I was able to look forward to this, but (as mentioned before), it will be another "create your own challenge / fun" title, and I lack creativity, therefore requiring set goals and considered challenge.

Its basically Animal Crossing on wheels at this point.

Not exactly, depending on how long those Stories last and how they're handled. I don't think there's much revealed about them, but it does sound like Playground are expanding them further from the bucket list challenges they resembled in 4.

It sounds like a positive step no end. From what I've read they've put a bit more effort into the characters and your player avatar can actually talk. This sounds like a nice return to the cheesy-but-fun characters from FH1 which added a lot to the festival schtick.

I also like the sound of improved focus on the mini games and exploration. The first thing I do on any Horizon is drive the length of the map to get the all roads achievement. I think the best DLC they have done for the whole series was Hot Wheels so baking that into the main game is a logical step forward.

I hated the hot wheels stuff.

The best dlc was snow mountain or fortune island for me, without the cheesy chests. It’s why I like some of the screenshots showing the hills and verticality of the levels, and the different environments.

I am looking forward to this. Not been watching the previews as I want to keep it for me to explore.

I did the same on 4. Well, once I'd got my Mini. Those last few tiny roads are always the bane of getting that completed.

The Hot Wheels expansion is certainly the craziest Horizon has ever been. Between that and Blizzard Mountain, the third Horizon is going to be tough to beat on its expansions for the fifth one. I'd guess at a minimum we get larger maps for the expansions, but what they would be, I have no idea. Maybe they surprise us and give us a rendition of a second real location. As I said before, I'd love to see what they could do with a rendition of Cuba.

I would expect them to really go for it with the expansions, seeing as how many people are “not paying” for the base game.
