As i have said before, I hope it caters to my tastes for the game to reward actual skill /finish position / time etc, as well as selecting increased AI difficult and reduced driving aids.
I know this franchise falls in to the arcade side of handling etc, but that shouldn't mean that everything you do has no consequence and everything you do unlocks more events that unlock more events and so on.

I realy enjoyed the first few hours of FH4, but when it became clear that i was just in a massive sandbox where finishing positions and so on were of no consequence regarding "progresison" I could never get past the feeling that it was just a virtual environment to hang out with friends. I'm sure this is creators intent, but i do hope there is a little more this time for those that want the adrenaline boost of just getting over the finishing line in first place without using rewinds, leading to a unique challenge becoming available in recognition of the achievement.

I'm in a similar ish position and have accepted that this game just isn't that anymore, and that rivals mode is where that kind of thing lives on now (not that I was ever seriously challenging those, but it's where I can do what I like doing). The rewards are technically there in terms of more cash for turning down assists/upping AI difficulty, but if it's still just about completing races to "progress" then I won't put much effort into doing that but just ticking them off as a means to an end, even if that means getting rinsed by the hardest AI but still getting more money for coming last than winning at lower difficulty.

Hopefully the track creation stuff is in from the beginning and you can create time trials instead, or use the new creation suite without the wacky stuff or something like that.

It's going to be interesting to see how much improvement we can see in driving games as developers squeeze more out of the new machines.

How will the next Forza Motorsport make visual improvements over Horizon 5 as it looks pretty darn amazing.

Circuit racers can push even more as they have much less geometry and...stuff to deal with than loads of open area.

I’ve been playing a lot of Forza 7. It looks amazing. Car/Weather/reflection details are arguably better than FH4 for this reason. Looks amazing.

Yeah I reckon Forza 8 (now just called Forza Motorsport) will be a visual showpiece especially as its next gen only.

Forza 8 should look fantastic, it’s one of the games I’m most looking forward to for next year.

Maybe it's just me but as good as the Forza games look and they do look amazing the lack of car damage and the way you just plough through walls and scenery just totally breaks my immersion.
It just somehow ends up feeling somehow not as enjoyable.

Am I alone in that?

I'm the opposite; for me Horizon is about messing around in supercars with little to no consequence; the idealised dream than super-realism. I think you can have damage on but I turn it off from the start as after one race either online or off your car would probably look fit only for the scrapyard.

With mates it's a great laugh, but single player is a little sterile and inbetween for me. It's not Sim or Arcade enough, and sits in the middle trying to be both.

Wish they would make it more like PGR or go whole hog and make it a sim, plug the gap left by Project Cars 3.

From a Living Desert to a Volcano’s Peak: Exploring Forza Horizon 5’s Biomes and Seasons

Spread out over a map that’s about one-and-a-half times the size of Forza Horizon 4’s, the 11 biomes represent the most diverse map a Forza Horizon game has ever delivered. Let’s take a closer look:

This is the largest, most diverse open world ever in a Forza Horizon game, with a vibrant, ever-evolving landscape and limitless driving action in hundreds of the world’s greatest cars.

Seasons will also be returning to Forza Horizon 5, adding a new layer of diversity and complexity to the experience than previous Forza Horizon games. What’s more, each of the 11 unique biomes will transition though the seasons differently. As an example, spring means the rainy season in the jungles and farmland of Mexico, while summer could bring intense tropical thunderstorms along the coasts. Forza Horizon 5 seasons ensure Mexico is constantly evolving, encouraging players to explore the world in full each time the seasons change.

Will have to dig out my Motorstorm logos for this, will probably go full "make ludicrous off road vehicles" mode.
