Finally deleted this last night. It’s been on my SSD since launch but despite multiple short sessions I can’t ‘get’ it. It just seems aimless and so disjointed. I know I’m in the minority and I’m probably way older than the target demographic but I enjoy racing games.

But not this. I’ll try Forza 7 more now to see if that scratches my Series X racing needs

I also got caught out by the fact that The Trial this week was dirt races. I had already chosen a Ferrari 488 with slicks :fp: Ah well, it made it a bit tense at some of the checkpoints

I completed it last night in the first two races, but I will admit I was carried due to my choice of car. I think I was 6th and 8th. So Thursday night is definitely the night to do it. The fact it didn't restrict you to a particular class of car was ideal, although I guess that backfired for me this week.

Just started playing it.

The graphics are impressive for Series S and one thing I have to ask. What's up with the handling?! I feel like it's driving on bloody ice. :dread:

I'm still tweaking the handling customisation to see if it improves. It is a bit better and something feels a bit off in my opinion. :shifty:

In 4 you could tweak most cars to corner like a Scalextric car. In 5 the tyre type and the type of surface make a far bigger difference. Although I was frustrated at first, it does make things better and more ‘accurate’ as you play it more.

I think most people found it jarring at first, but you’ll find cars and tuning types that you get on with. I personally find AWD-tuned Porches fantastic.

S2 is definitely a harder racing class because of the above changes. At least in my opinion. If you tune a car for grip (which you need at those speeds), you’ll lack the top speed to keep up with the AI who have insane grip by default.

It could be why as I am just into incredibly early stage of the main story.

I will see how I get on in the later stages of the story.

I never had a real problem with it and the car choices made sense, you had the pick the right type. I played pretty much on expert and dipped into unbeatable for a bit. The only real issue is on loose stuff because the AI do much better under braking and accelerating. In any other format is was fine and you could catch the leaders within anything from 40-70% total race distance.

That's funny you say that. Dirt and Cross-Country events were where I had the easiest time with the AI on Expert. The street and road events were the biggest obstacles for me when I came to getting 1st in all races, as the AI just have impossible grip for the tunes they have for the top speed they achieve. The AI absolutely does cheat to compensate for the difficulty levels - not in the traditional sense, but in terms of the tunes they use.

Professional and Unbeatable are much more difficult than previous entries imo. Due to both the rocket boosters and their impossibly accurate racing line.

Ok. Weird we have 2 incredibly different experiences. Are you tuning cars for those races?

I never touched the tuning for 95% of the game. The only time I do it was for seasonal challenges where you need to do a certain task, and just applying a class upgrade rarely gave you enough top speed for danger signs or grip/acceleration/launch for speed zones.

Has anyone got the points for this week’s “win an Open event” challenge? I did an Open team games, and we won, but it didn’t unlock.

Yep - I tune all the cars I use. I find it a must to be honest at the higher difficulties.

I think it's a whole separate aspect of the game to enjoy. Probably spend ~40% of my time in game either trading, tuning or painting.

I think you have to win individually / come top in your team.

I got it in the playground games challenge by getting the most flags scored compared to all other players - in that round i scored 3 and the highest scorer on the opposition had 2 - even though we lost that game, and lost the whole event 0-3.

Also how can you get into a team game in the open event (from the multplayer tab)? - I though they were all free for all. But its the horizon tour thats teams?

That’s a bit harsh, having to come solo top in a PvP event, when the rest of the seasonal challenges are so achievable.

I just selected Playground Games from the Open tab. It must randomly choose solo or team events.

Phew. Completed it now. I tried again using the seasonal games, like you said. This time I focused on getting most flags, and sod team tactics (we won anyway). Thanks for the tip. I had a horrible feeling I’d miss out on 100%ing the series just because of that one event.

How do the barn hunt work?

Do I have to wait for the rumours to pop up then I drive to the location?

Yes its a wait for the rumour to get announced then an area will be circled on your map. Its loosely linked to your time played / SP progress / accolades got.

11Gb on Series X. A tad excessive for a bug fix patch.

I’m just wanting the ability to auction barn find cars. Here’s hoping it’s coming.

I got the min max achievement today.

Theres alot of push back on reddit and the official forums for yesterdays patch - taking away the wheel spins in the skill trees and severely nerfing the wheelspin rewards.
