Forza Motorsport (XSX|S/Win 10/Game Pass) - Update 7 out now inc Brands Hatch.

I tried the Merc FE in the sedans series, and it has some strange sounds on gear changes - like animal calls.

The more I play, I'm not impressed with it and I'm not keen to play it anymore now. :fp:

has anyone set any rivals times yet? ive got 1:42.679 on the maple valley featured. Although i have only done two laps.

Ive got through the first set of series. The Ford GT 2017 handles ok, and seems to have a descent amount of speed. There is a noticable difference across car handling and track conditions (low sun, fog, are new). The ability to switch to a flying lap in rivals is good. I do like the racing - but its ultimately more of the same.

The AI is dodgy, as other have said - the front runners seem to just up thier own PI so pull out fast laps from nowwhere. Ive sem other times with AI just drives off the track. The car points system would be OK if everything was unlocked from the start, but as such it sucks - I like to adjust my handling first then think about power, but this system is guided counterintuitively down one (wrong) path. I also dont like how theyve taken leaderboards (friends/world etc) out of races and put them behind rivals - a big loss of QoL.

The game definately feels unfinished and Beta. And whist it is a racing game the "story progression" is a big let down.

Yeah, even though I've barely done any of the Builders Cup beyond its introduction, I noted how counter-intuitive the whole concept of the game is in regard to it. It says that upgrading and tuning your vehicle is an important part of the career, yet restricts you from doing so until you level up a vehicle? But then also expects you to swap around vehicles so you can never have the full amount of upgrades available to you at any one time without a lot of racing outside of that career? I'm not sure it'd matter too much on lower difficulties, but those serious about their racing are being held back by the systems at play.

The easiest thing to do would be to change it to manufacturer level, so that while there's still some grind, it makes it less of one and other cars part of that manufacturer are pre-prepared for if needed in later sections of the career. But is that something Turn 10 will do?

I’m feeling the same really, the more I play the more meh it becomes, I still maintain there is till some good elements too it, but it does not feel like a game 6 years in the making. I’m glad I only paid for the extra pass rather than nearer £90 for what would have been the top tier edition.

I feel kind of unfair making comparisons between this and ACC, but then at the same time they’re both developers who solely make racing games (as far as I know anyway), so the comparisons feel a little more fair then. Granted FM targets pad users as well, but I dare say Kunos could implement better pad support in ACC if they wanted to.

This is just a disappointing racing game considering the time they’ve been developing it, much like I found GT7 as well

I seem to recall they said there wasn’t any rubber banding on the AI but it certainly seems to be the case as well.

While it’s probably never going to be Forza 3/4 good, from what I’ve seen it does seem like the type of game that will only get better with time and given further updates. Hopefully by the time I jump in (likely next Christmas!) it’ll be vastly improved and expanded.

The days of kitchen sinking it on day 1 (ala Gran Turismo 2) are long gone. Unfortunately.

As far as GT/Forza games go, nothing has come close to GT4 as of yet, of course nostalgia plays a part of that but it was amazing and still was last time played it.

Finished off the first full set of cups now and think this is probably the biggest disappointment of the year for myself, was expecting so much more from it

The AI can either be too good or too bad.

Think I've seen that a few times, but not with first place. That's just bad.

I think I'm going to let it have a month or two worth of updates before trying it again, one thing that should be a must is a radar/proximity radar for nearby cars like ACC has, the current indicators are poor to put it kindly.

I play in cockpit mode so I don't see indicators, I did get shoved and ended up rolling over on the first corner of a race though which was infuriating, I enjoyed eventually going up to 10th with a cracked windscreen though.

I'm not CRAZY into car racers but to me this seems the same as Forza 7 albeit with a significant graphical boost and better handling.... which.... I'm more than happy with... :shifty:

I like the quick upgrade car options and the car levelling system too. Still terrified to try online just yet.

Played this again the other night. It's ok, just feels a bit stuck between two worlds where it's trying to be realistic, but has unrealistic behaviour of every car just snapping to oversteer off power no matter what, then understeering like mad under power. I'm not really that taken with it, but will revisit it on PC instead I think to give it another go. Will certainly try out a bit of multiplayer but I expect that to be a literal car crash.

The physics seems a good step when first playing it, trying to launch a stock road car round a track will yield some understeer, especially on rubbish stock tyres, but then its prevalent in nearly everything I've driven so far, as is the off throttle oversteer, which is a thing in some cars of course but in nearly everything? It's just odd and as you said, stuck between two things but not doing either of them well really.

What are you driving? Im getting understeer on off power.
