My brain keeps rearranging the thread title to "Fantastic Fox Reboot" and it doesn't help that fox hunting has been on the news lately. I keep imagining Roald Dahl's book reimagined into a gritty story of an urban fox fighting crime while also carrying out bank robberies to give money to the poor. With his gang of misfits he outsmarts the authorities at every turn before facing his greatest nemesis, Dr Bean, who has genetically altered himself to become the ultimate fox catcher.

And I think I would watch the gooseberry fool out of that.

Reminds me of when Thanos dropped the Infinity Cube outside of his Thanos copter as he was flying away.

He was then arrested by the NYPD.

I'm sorry for ruining the end of Avengers Infinity War.

The cast of the new Fantastic Four movie have admitted they've yet to see the finished film.

The Marvel blockbuster, which opens in a few days, hasn't been shown to critics.

But the lead actors - Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan - say they've not been shown a final version either.

"I'm going to try to see it opening night with a real audience," said Mara, who plays Sue Storm.

An assumption amongst critics is that when they're not shown the movie in advance, it immediately spells warning signs that the movie could be a flop.

Hmm.

I saw TWO trailers for this before Ant-Man tonight. I really hope they alter Ben Grimm's voice when he becomes The Thing, because as it is in the trailers is just wrong.

I'm pretty sure prior to the release of Citizen Kane Orson Welles had to give an interview pre-emptively explaining that the film wasn't a disaster.

Kinberg is hopeful that Four becomes a new franchise. “I am proud of it,” he says. “It’s not a disaster. It’s a good movie. I find Fantastic Four a hard book to adapt. I think the tone is very tricky it. It’s deceptively simple. Figuring out the comedy and the drama and the powers themselves are hard to fit into a tone that is as grounded as we wanted to make it.

if you're having trouble making something dark and gritty, then maybe don't make it dark and gritty...

it's ridiculous that anybody can stand there and say Fantastic Four is hard to adapt when last year we had a movie about a tree and a racoon :fp:

I saw a trailer for this on YouTube and it looked fine to me. A comic movie doesn't have to be dark, it just has to be made by someone who doesn't think the medium silly - as with the other two FF films. If i can I might go and see an early showing of this on Friday.

Just watched the third trailer for this and it looks like a direct to DVD movie in places.

It also looks completely humourless and they probably couldn't have picked less charismatic leads if they'd tried.

Heard a few radio adverts for this on xfm today. They really are emphasising the 'Marvel' bit even though it isn't a Marvel film  I even heard them mention 'from the Marvel Universe' which is surely a bit cheeky.

I hope this isn't the one to kill off comic book movies.

It won't kill off comic book movies - the unbelievable money generated by Marvel already this year will keep them going for a while yet. It might kill off the Fantastic Four as a viable movie franchise though.
