There were enough neat ideas in that trailer to get me excited again. Still got my reservations but I know I'm in the minority with those.

It just seems weird because Bloodborne and Sekiro are different types of fantasy Souls game but this just seems like Dark Souls again. Maybe a Renaissance Souls?

But the tarnish!

PS4 and XBO pre-orders are up. (On Amazon, at least.)

They're getting their money's worth from that engine. (Yes, of course I know it'll have been iterated upon; it's not the same exact engine.)

Probably an unsurprising reaction but I think it looks really cool. I like Dark Souls, this looks like next gen Dark Souls, I have nothing to complain about really!

The Golden Order has been broken. Rise, Tarnished, and be guided by grace to brandish the power of the Elden Ring and become an Elden Lord in the Lands Between.

Elden Ring, developed by FromSoftware Inc. and produced by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., is a fantasy action-RPG and FromSoftware’s largest game to date, set within a world full of mystery and peril.

Key Features

A New Fantasy World – Journey through the Lands Between, a new fantasy world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of the influential Dark Souls video game series, and George R. R. Martin, author of The New York Times best-selling fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire. Unravel the mysteries of the Elden Ring’s power. Encounter adversaries with profound backgrounds, characters with their own unique motivations for helping or hindering your progress, and fearsome creatures.

World Exploration in the Lands Between – Elden Ring features vast fantastical landscapes and shadowy, complex dungeons that are connected seamlessly. Traverse the breathtaking world on foot or on horseback, alone or online with other players, and fully immerse yourself in the grassy plains, suffocating swamps, spiraling mountains, foreboding castles and other sites of grandeur on a scale never seen before in a FromSoftware title.

Genre-Defining Gameplay – Create your character in FromSoftware’s refined action-RPG and define your playstyle by experimenting with a wide variety of weapons, magical abilities, and skills found throughout the world. Charge into battle, pick off enemies one-by-one using stealth, or even call upon allies for aid. Many options are at your disposal as you decide how to approach exploration and combat.

A free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version will be available for players who purchase Elden Ring on PlayStation 4, and Smart Delivery will be supported for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Bloodborne is the only recent FS game I haven't played yet. Waiting on the inevitable remaster. Wasn't super big on DS3 and Sekiro left me feeling really mixed. So far the concept behind Elden Ring is already miles more interesting than what they've done in the past. It just seems like they're taking all their usual ideas and turning it up a notch which I'm all for.

Did I imagine that this had something to do with Lord of the Rings?

I'm very much looking forward to Dark Souls 4 this. Hopefully I'll be able to upgrade my PC for a reasonable price by the time the Super Complete Hyper Turbo Remix version is out.

I don’t really see how you can say the concept is miles more interesting? What’s the difference based on what we know so far. I know there was talk it was open world but I don’t see any hint of that in this trailer.

I love Bloodborne and especially Sekiro so I hope this is more along those lines, but honestly you could splice this into any DS trailer and not know it was from a different game. I’m disappointed we didn’t see any of the changes in this trailer, even that flavour text could apply to any of their other games.

I wonder how many games journalists have spent this evening working on an Elden Ring piece.

I can see why this would be disappointing if you don't like the medieval fantasy setting.

Assuming you get along with Dark Souls this looks immense though. It's Dark Souls but with a nice graphical upgrade and the world expanded to be big enough you need a magical, flying horse to get around. Sounds amazing to me. Watched the trailer a few times now. :slol:

Same, it looks like everything good about Souls but expanded in scale/scope which to me sounds perfect! :D

Lots of hints at a much broader set of skills/tools available to the player as well

Like I said it looks like their usual ideas but turned up a notch. Also I'm going off that old leak that originally said it would be open world. Something about having to go to specific locations to take down these lords. Similar to what they've done but on a much bigger scale. What DS3 heavily lacked for me was diversity with its locations. This Trailer already showcased tons of cool looking areas and bosses.
