Some of the exposition is painful.

I can see why Rockstar want to sue for this. It's proper anti-them.

Jack Thompson so far is coming across as a real hero. The whole thing is hilariously bad. It's actually kind of infuriating. And when did Scottish people become English?

This would have been better as just a straightforward documentary.

Generally, any and all British made drama is disgracefully gooseberry fool compared with what the USA produces. Anyone with any talent would be in Hollywood not BBC Manchester studios.

Watched it all just so I could complain. It was really poo.

I think anyone without any knowledge of the events would think that Rockstar screwed JT as well. By the end it came across like they'd strawberry floated him over.

Also JT was Hudson from Aliens!

I thought it was fine. Don't think it was one-sided at all. There was always a debate to be had about violent videogames, Jack Thompson just went about it the wrong way and Rockstar became scapegoats for it just because. I think they got that across pretty well.

Bill Paxton is old though. Jesus.

The acting in this was atrocious. I'm also sure rockstar employees wear rockstar and gta branded clothing at all times :fp:

I see the BBC are running a story this morning asking how damaging videogames are. Great, let's put gaming back 10 years.

Thought it was pretty poor with the occasional decent moment with Bill Paxton. The ending was so bad.

I didn’t see this, but it sounds as terrible as the trailer made it look. Quite why they didn’t do a documentary, which would’ve been quite interesting, instead of this bollocks is anyone’s guess. Why would you try and dramatise something like this anyway?

Just watching this now, it's sooooo bad so far.

He seems like a nice guy in real life but Daniel Radcliffe is absolutely stealing a living as an actor.

I didn't think it was awful, very much a seven out of ten docudrama.

Radcliffe can only be partly blamed for how it turned out, the script was really bad in places.

I also didn't think it was particularly anti-Rockstar. We have to remember, Jack Thompson wasn't evil, he just felt that violent games shouldn't be sold to kids. And I agree with him, to be honest, if he'd been a bit more level-headed about it he'd probably have won. I think they actually did a decent job of not portraying either side as the villain of the piece.

Apparently that whole sequence where Sam and friends dressed up like rappers and went for a stroll around Compton actually happened too.

The Housers are from London and the whole thing was based in Rockstar New York as opposed to Rockstar North. You'd be forgiven for thinking the game was developed in New York after watching this (it wasn't).

All things considered though, I think you need to give them credit for making this. It's not like shows about police, hospitals, schools etc. are in any way realistic, so I think it's probably unfair to criticise this for being a bit reductive and over-simplified.

He basically fluked it by getting the Harry Potter role as a child, granting him 7/8 massive movies carrying him through to adulthood with him maintaining his fame throughout.

The fact that he didn't develop any acting skills didn't matter at that point...
