PostGame of Thrones - books question (no spoilers please)

I’m nearly finished the last book. I’d like to watch the TV series from that point on. Any idea what series I would need to start at?

I don’t want to go back and watch it all if I can avoid it. I watched series one and it was just the same as the book. I was a bit bored.

Probably series 6 but realisitically I’d day jumping back at least a few series. Maybe to 4 would be very beneficial.

It starts really diverging after series 3 but elements of the books continue until series 5.

I watched the first one right after I had read the first book and I was just bored going over the exact same thing. I’ve not got as much free time at the moment as well so keen to try cut down how much of a backlog I will have.

Season two didn't finish the books as closely as the first. I'd really start from there as, like people mentioned, it's great.

Probably season 4, from that point you’re still getting a fair bit of Storm of Swords (I think so anyway), if you literally just want post ADWD content then probably mid season 5 but I’d say start from season 5 rather than jumping in part way through.

But to be honest the first few seasons (up until 4) are superb.

Unfortunately if you skip the seasons that most closely follow the books you'll be skipping the best of the show. The further it diverges from or overtakes the books the worse it gets.
