Maybe not in the real world, but this is a fantasy tv show so I want to see her coughing up dark arterial blood so that it stains her teeth and gets smeared across her chops and on her hands, maybe even coughing some onto Jon's face so he's left with that little memento.

Subtle. Although I agree that the halfway house they went with achieved nothing.

EDIT: has anyone mentioned how strawberry floating absurd Drogon's reaction was yet?

Because that gooseberry fool was brain breakingly bad.

"strawberry float this chair in particular"

Depends where you are stabbed. I assumed Jon stabbed her in the heart, it’s perfectly possible his blade slashed a lung.

Drogon is the either a genius or a stupid dragon, genius if he realised that the throne corrupted most people who wanted it/sat on it or stupid if he thought the chair killed her (which in a sense it did but obviously didn’t deal the killing blow with one of its swords) with one of the swords that was used to make it.

Thought the finale was pants, only thing I thought was cool was the shots of Dani with Drogon looking like the wings were coming from her sides.

I thought they may have shown a white walker at the end in the woods almost hinting at everything has come back to the start and that's the circle of life; it never ends... but that was probably to clever for them.

Thought the last episode was rubbish. Shame as I thought the actual plot points were ok, but just dreadfully managed.

It's like Martin gave them a load of bullet points on how the story wraps up, and then the show writers were just too much of a pair of hacks to make it work.

- Bran being chosen as new king, as he always knew
- Tyrion being the Hand but not wanting it
- Jaimie dieing in Cersies arms
- Bron ending up being master of coin even though unsuitable
- Grey worm hating Jon and not getting revenge
- Jon retiring with the wild folk
- Aria gives up on being an assassin and becomes an explorer
- Jon killing Dani even though he loves her
- Hound killing the mountain but dieing in the process
- Drogon destroying the chair in a fit of rage (Have him destroy the rest of the palace and the throne included, not just target the throne as if he's thinking to himself "This is the reason why all this happens!")

I think all of the above could have been great, if given the time and filmed competantly. As an isolated list of ideas I think it sounds great.

The missing bits (Ellaria?) I think comes down to the fact they weren't given a bullet point for her so the 2 hacks just left it out.

Thoroughly miffed and disappointed by it all, and they now get 3 starwars films as a reward.

Is the last episode the worst episode in the whole show?

I'm struggling to think of a worse one.

I don't think it was as bad as some of the rest of season 8. Ep 4 was strawberry floating trash, as was 5.

The one where Jorah and Varys are stuck in the meth lab with that fly is far worse.

If it was the last episode of Series 9 it might have been OK.

This is the biggest problem for me, I dont really have a problem with the things that happened, Bran being King, the North seceeding, etc.. But the way they got there was pretty bad, it really should have been split over two seasons, one to deal with the Night King, one to deal with the Iron throne, it would have given everything a bit more time to breathe.

Another thing - why didn't Sam, Sansa, Arya or Tyrion pipe up about Jon being the rightful heir to the throne at the council meeting? I get that he didn't want the throne, but he'd have done his duty.

This was exactly our reaction to it

If Jon had been hiding behind the throne and the Dragon kicked off, then fair enough, but why concentrate on melting the throne? It's not like he has the intelligence to know it's the symbol and reason for all this.

I was wondering how John was perfectly fine being inches away from a Dragon breath on full blast mode.
He should at least have singed eyebrows.

By some distance. Episode 1 & 2 this season were ok, 3 was entertaining enough but stupid, and I think 5 was decent but I'm in the minority there. The rest was dreadful.

Before that, I thought the show was mostly excellent. Season seven was pretty rushed but it's miles ahead of the last series.

He's a Targaryan and thus immune to dragonflame. Probably.
