Oh but they managed it in Lord of the Rings. The cast was 90% male, so they just made Arwen, Eowyn and Galadriel speak piles of shite for a while.

That's a weird article. But still, it clearly states what the researchers were trying to do: highlight the lack of female roles in mainstream television.

I agree with Taf that it does matter. But I don’t think it matters on a show like Game of Thrones. Stuff set in a medieval world is going to favour male characters as that’s what those societies were like.

GoT actually did really well for female representation. The main female characters were all strong and stuck in the mind far more than a lot of the men. Even small roles like Lyanna Mormont stuck in the mind due to how strawberry floating great she was.

Yep. Like I said last page, it would have been super fitting for Dany to stay in Mereen and save the survivors of Westeros after the Others/White Walkers decimate it.

It does sound like Dany will end up in Westeros in the books though. GRRM has always cited character wrangling as one of the main reasons he's struggled with the later books and made heavy hints that he didn't know how to get Dany to Westeros.

Dany stying in Meereen/Essos to save people fleeing from Westeros sounds like it could have worked pretty well, don’t see it happening though.

This musical piece, The Last of the Starks, from the last episode is a lovely. Both ruminating and forward-looking.

That was terribly done. I can sort of see what they were aiming at (or at least what I hope they were aiming at) but it was poorly executed.

I'm not saying it doesn't matter in general, but in the context of a show which has had scenes of women fingering each other in the ass, choosing now as the point to speak up about sexual equality seems a bit pointless.
