I'd stand agog if someone turned up without a picnic and simply refuse to be rescued.

While that's a great point and I thought of it too immediately after she said it, she was trying to say that all that gooseberry fool happened because Tywin had been killed and Kings Landing had been left to the mercy of The Sparrows.

This is the one thing they really nailed in the transition from the book to television. That bath bit in Season 3 might be one of the best acted scenes in the show.

Jaime is one of my faves despite all those things you mentioned.

Jamie use to be one of the most hated characters in the shows early days. His transformation has been huge.

Yeah, its a great example of character redemption, you have every reason to hate him but soon you begin to understand why he's like that and sympathize with him, this also happens to a lesser extent with Cersei but she soon reverts back into an evil scheming bitch.

Yes. Brienne really mirrors our feelings in that scene as you start to see him as this man who acted not out of self interest or disloyalty but acted to stop genocide and madness. The pain of bearing that for so long when he is actually a honourable man is what hardens him and leads to his excesses ( as well as his sister being smoking hot). He was also only made a kingsguard to spite his father (denying him his heir) as Aerys was jealous of Tywin and his ability to rule and lead.

Interesting couple of theories


Gendry is actually the legitimate child of Robert and Gendry - the one she alludes to losing in episode 2 season 1. Presumably taken and hidden to prevent Jaime doing some horror to it.

Tyrion convinced Cersei to go along with the truce as he had promised that her unborn child would be named as heir if she stepped down and didn't fight after the dead were vanquished. he having told her that Daenerys was barren. He does refer to the succession with Dany in episode 6 and she rather angrily cuts him short (no pun intended!).
