Just before the attack Tarley said that the gold had already been taken to King's Landing. That was just before he suggested flogging stragglers.

Bronn's gold is strawberry floated, but the Iron Bank's gold was safe.

Actually - it isn't the Iron Bank's money until Cersei hands it over. The mention of the Golden company was telling. She'll have to come to some arrangement with Tycho about hiring them to replace her army which has just been toasted.
As for the river comments - they're close to King's landing so that 'little stream' probably a tributary of the black water so would be reasonably deep at its centre.
