Blowing it open with the dragon would probably be quicker than having it ferry them all over group by group.

Wonder if the Night King planned for it to happen.

An alternative/much cooler way to play out that frozen lake scene would be for the WW to just pour themselves into the lake until they'd filled it with their corpses which would have then made it simpler for their fellow WW to cross over.

I'm thinking that too but am wondering how the heck he got his news on the dragons. I guess it's not beyond imagining that they have their own animal seer types? (Can't recall if they ever showed any WW with those kinds of powers, though.)

How does he know about the dragons?

Before they flew in? When dragons first came to Westeros 300 or so years ago - the walkers were sleeping after their defeat.

Does he have a similar ability to Bran? Or something like.

This is the biggest plot hole by far.

There's a theory that the dragons awoke or were born partly for Danaerys but also because the walkers had returned.

It was Euron in his sub that attached the chains.

They don't die in the water you tools

You see them in the water trying to pull Tormund in.

I imagine the walkers cope just fine underwater, they're just useless if they're stuck under the ice which is why they didn't throw themselves in.

Unless I'm missing a bit where they exploded upon contact with water earlier or something.

I meant these new dragons specifically. Because as Maf suggested that didn't half look like a trap to nab themselves a sweet dragon mount/ally.

Wasn't it the first time Jon saw the Night King where he made it onto the raft by like 20cm but all tNK and the wights all stopped right at the edge as Jon floated very slowly away. With a very awkward stare-off. Like when you say bye to somebody and then end up walking down the same corridor

A note on Benjen.

At the end of season 6 he reveals he cannot pass through the wall. He says I'll do what I can.
So let's examine what he may have been doing? He was first ranger and his whole life in the watch involved going into the north of the wall and patrolling - keeping an eye in wildlings and intervening, reporting acting on anything he found.

So he drops bran off and then What does he do. Well, presumably he goes off scouting and tracking the dead this time (as any wildlings are either dead or with Jon or strawberry floating hiding in pockets after Hard home)he could do it from an appreciable distance given the size of the army and he would or could have basically acted as a scout or ranger. He may have been on the sidelines and waited to intervene.
Is it a plot device to save Jon? Of course it is. But it's one that's reasonably easy to infer.
An even simpler explanation would be he was wandering around and Bran alerted him.

My two penneth.

Or they wanted a character we know to kill off because it's what we expect at this point but they're running low on good ones now so just plucked that one from the vaults and bumped him off, mistakenly thinking we'd give a gooseberry fool.

I think perhaps giving him a little pre-credits sequence like they did to reintroduce The Hound would have helped. Or even a quick shot of him watching the battle, or the bear fight. As it was it was like 'surprise! remember this dude?'. And then they killed him, and no gooseberry fools were given.

In before Denny says it was a touching reunion, heartbreaking to see Jon looking back as he rode in to the storm and he cried for 6 hours afterwards.

I don't care he died (what with how little time we've spent with him) but I wasn't surprised to see him turn up because of the last time he turned up. If anything, I expected him to show his face to the whole group at an earlier stage.

And I'll ask again: was there any reason why they didn't have any dragonglass with them? (Or did they just have the one piece which was what Jorah used to off the bear?)
