The fact the 3 dragons pretty much nuke every single walker bar that corner really annoyed me. There seems like a lot of simple changes that could have been made that would have stopped some of these stupid plot holes from ever surfacing.

Is that just a reflection in his eyes?

During the conversation Jon had with Ser Friendzone (when he offered him the sword back), he said that it was exactly the same but he had replaced the hilt with a wolf head. I can’t see any reason for the eyes to open, it’s not like it is an ancient sword hilt, it was a replacement that Jon put on because of his Stark heritage.

Must either be a continuity error (they probably have more than one prop sword), some weird light trick or they are going to write a silly plot that does silly things to do with the sword.

They did have dragonglass with them by the way, Jorah was using obsidian daggers.

Aye, I suspected if anyone had 'em for sure it was him (given how easily dispatched the bear). Ta for confirming. *seethes at otherwise lack of dragonglass availability to rest of group*

See! This is why I tended to stay out of this thread! (The general grumpiness is tedious/infectious. And fun to give in to from time to time. :shifty: :P )

Benjen turning up when he did didn't bother me. Having him not get on the horse and escaping with John did, however. "There's no time" -what the strawberry float was he talking about, there was a shitload of time. :?

Still, despite all the contrivances and pacing issues, and despite the absurdity of the mission and the woeful execution of it, I thought it was a hugely thrilling episode.

One of the others performed a real-time weapon swap to use a dagger, didn't they? Can't remember if it was the Mountain or Tormund... Maybe that was dragonglass too?

How many people actually went north of the wall in this group? It seemed like a couple of people died in the chaos that literally didn't have one second of screen time before their death screams. My girlfriend asked me more than once "who's that that died?" to which I could only shrug and reply "I bet it's strawberry floating NO-ONE"

It felt like redshirting, but aware that showing the redshirts beforehand is too obvious, so they just go one step dumber with "by the way, there was another guy here too and now he's dead". Because now that deaths in this show aren't preordained, but rather driven by actor's contracts and marketing, nobody important, nobody that "rates well" with viewers, can die.

I was quite surprised they didn't take the opportunity to kill off more of those characters.

Along with all the other complaints - where did all the nudity go! This isn't the Game of Thrones I remember from early seasons!

I agree with that. I didn’t even realise there were other people there until the nobodies started dying.

This season really shows its not working from the books, its falling into all the usual TV tropes that previous seasons didnt have or at least hid much better. With Bronn, Jamie, Asha, Theon and now Tormund all surviving sure death situations the show has lost some of its unpredictable appeal. Someone in here said it already, it really shows that its no longer written by one guy obsessing over every detail for months or years and is instead written to be a TV show and meet a deadline. Im still enjoying it but in a different way, its a visual spectacle now rather than the unpredictable epic story it had been for 5+ seasons.

BSG spoilers:

You think the last episode of GoT will be everyone flying away on the dragons to another planet that TURNS OUT TO BE EARTH 10,000 YEARS AGO???!!

I just want robots dancing. Whatever the cost.

I just hope Tormund gets to finally marry Brienne as that's the real Thrones love story.

Yeah I think that was The Hound, he realised that Gendry's warhammer wasn't having much of an effect to switched to an Two-handed Obsidian Axe.

Right at the point of ejaculation, Bran wargs in to Breane and talks about hodor wearing a dress
