In china buying a videogame can adversely affect your citizen score, reducing your access to things like loans, hotel bookings and even dating apps.

Privacy is the first defence against authoritarianism.

Well, that's utterly disturbing.

Went into GAME today for a browse and decided on impulse to pick up Life is Strange 2 as the price had dropped. When I took it to the desk, the assistant said 'sorry, I'm afraid that one is out of stock'

Figures.

That's always annoying. A pet peeve of mine with high street retail. Don't have it in stock, then don't advertise it.

In China you can be executed for “separatism” but I don’t think that Chinese law is a reason for people to not join the SNP.

I wonder if Game will once more pick up the "Retailer of the Year" at the MCV awards this year...

Nipped into Game earlier. £90 for Ring Fit (available from Nintendo for £70), and Brain Training for £30 (available for £25 from Nintendo, and £18 if you're ok with a download code!). Like strawberry floating hell, guys. Genuinely amazed they're still clinging on. Can't remember the last time I spent any money in there.

At Christmas I tried two north east GAME shops for Nintendo E shop credit. The newly opened Newcastle store and the big Metro Centre store..... Both had sold out. So I quickly logged into Amazon and had a download code in seconds.

How do you sell out of Digital credit? I thought they just printed the code onto the receipt nowadays rather than giving you a physical card with it on.

I think Game have the cards only?

It’s astounding it’s still around. It’ll probably hang on to the next gen get a huge boost in numbers and struggle again for the next few years.

I love having a game shop, but ultimately it’s looking likely these will disappear from the high street very soon. Games prices are too high for me. Our local one has more toys and crap inside of it than actual games.

I plan to take a load of games in soon and swap it for Nintendo eshop credit. Seems the most sensible thing to turn the games in to. Annoyingly they don't seem to take things like vitas and wheels, as I have to then take these to a cex and get a reduced cash rate, becuase strawberry float trading against their overpriced stolen goods.

Got 25 quid in store credit from a mate for Christmas, so I panic bought Resident Evil 2 Remake and used the left over money to get some Xbox credit.

Nice to know you live in China. Won't be long now and I'll know everything about you.

What affect does frequenting a video game forum have on said score?

Went into Game this weekend and said about the store closures and the manager said to me they're just saying it to make the landlords drop the rent, bit of a crappy excuse.
But went to pick up the Layton Mystery Journey for Switch even if it was £40 only to be told it has sold out, typical game.

They won't be the first retailer to try this excuse. Mike Ashley normalised it last year and if it works for GAME then I'd fully expect multiple other big retailers to start making the same threat to their landlords.

Doesn't Ashley also own a chunk of game, as well?

Went into GAME on Friday, saw that they were selling BOTW on Switch for £59.99 and left immediately.
