I would 100% head more into a CEX direction, it's where the money is, (I'd also put the pods on in store, I've walked past 3 Game Stores in the North East this week all switched off, how am I supposed to be convinced about a game or console if I can't play it?

I'd also do a re-brand, whether or not he'd pay the costs for this is another matter, but clearly Game is dying/dead. Revamp - keep the name but change the .. 'iconic' white purple to something new and fresh.

I don't think I'd call it iconic.

Ubisoft iconic instead of actual iconic.

I visited a Game over the weekend and was absolutely blown away with the preorder Fifa for £10 advertising
I mean also their website says £54.99? If you buy Fifa for £54.99 you are an idiot.

What seems to be poor I noticed, (which has always been poor in Game) is the pricing and size of their Preowned stock, was pitiful, and once again no working Demo Pod Units. There was many people in there, but just looking around before walking out again, presumably to order online or try CEX/Grainger Games

You definitely have to pre-order FIFA as well because copies sell out so quickly and they never have any in stock.

I do wonder how much they rely upon those first day purchases who skip Tesco/Sainsburys/Asda's usual cheap deal and fork out £50-60 at somewhere like Game for sales. I mean within a month the price has normally dropped as well

I miss the days when FIFA cost 25 quid or came with a pair of pants.

Launch day prices are ridiculous considering how quickly (and steeply) lots of games drop in price. Never again!*

*except for maybe RDR2 or the next GTA.

I think (slightly off topic) Rockstar games seem to hold up over time because they are fantastic games that still offer things to do when completed, especially with RDR, GTA's, even LA Noire.

I am happy to wait a few months for a game like FIFA to show up on EA Access. That actually goes for all EA games, I just don't buy them anymore as I know they will be "free" in a matter of months.

I can’t actually remember the last time I bought any game on or near to release day. With GWG, PS+ and EA Access, I have plenty of games to play, far more than I will ever get around to actually playing. Other games that I want, I just wait for a sale.

Really is the best way to go about it, although I'm sure the games companies would disagree.

I assume they are happy with it or else they wouldn’t offer games up for MS/Sony to offer up for “free”. EA set their own version up so they must be thinking they’ll make extra cash.

And if they are not happy, then meh never mind, my heart bleeds for them. ;)

Well he's not a billionaire by accident, I'm sure he has some grasp of how businesses work.

I personally hope they manage to keep everything afloat, would be a shame for the front-line staff to lose their jobs because of boardroom incompetence.

Sports Direct still made £113m in profits though. That might be less than they made the previous year, but that's still a very healthy business.

I've never understood this obsession with "profits must be higher than last year", it's just totally unsustainable in the long term. So long as you're in profit after all your costs that should be all that matters, even if that profit is less than last year's profit.
