GAME has announced that from the 13th December they will no longer be accepting Xbox 360, PS3, Wii-U and PSVita for trade in, so if you have any old games or hardware to offload now is the time to do it.

Have they said they'll be having a sale on existing stock?

They haven’t, no. There is still a big selection on the website though.

Hot news from our friendly affiliate GNamer:

GAME have slashed PS3, Xbox 360, VITA (this excites me), DS, Wii and Wii U (this sort of excites me as I can see games becoming hard to find but I would only want good games) games to half price in clearance of last gen stuff.

Talking to a guy who works in GAME doing his shopping, this also includes hardware.

Seems some GAME stores have stopped stocking all previous gen games and hardware altogether. I popped into the Weymouth branch just before Christmas and they had no PS3, 360, Vita, DS or Wii/Wii U stock at all.

Yeah, I recall reading that GAME no longer accepts last-gen stuff for trade-in. Tbh, they've only been offering pennies for it for some time. I traded in some games last year and got 30p for a mint copy of Little Big Planet  .

Where does all their stock of those end up? They must have had a metric fuckton of PS3 and 360 pre owned stuff in warehouses. Do they just sell it in bulk to people like music magpie?

Possibly, but I buy a lot of pre-owned games from Music Magpie and 99% of the time the condition of boxes, manuals and, more importantly, discs are always top notch, in some cases mint. GAME are well known for taking in some real dog-eared tat. I doubt Magpie would be interested in GAME's generally poor quality preowned stock.

They probably sell it off to someone though. They must do.

I'd imagine they sell it off to a combination of places. Music Magpie, Indie shops, sticking a bunch of it up on eBay, etc.

I imagine there's some poor mug in the warehouses whose only job is to hit up ebay and try to sell it off.

My local game still has Vita games wants a blooming lot for them as well.. It also has xbox 360 and ps3 and wii stuff and that stuff is a bit better price wise , I imagine that at the moment there just not taking them in and that they are sending stock to stores which have an easier time of selling them, I am thinking this is proberbly the answer as even though my local are not taking anymore in diffrent stuff is appearing on the shelf.

Sky News has learned that Mike Ashley could merge Game Digital with HMV if he is successful in his bid to purchase the beleaguered music chain.

Mr Ashley already owns more than 60% of Sports Direct, and through it he has bought retailers including the House of Fraser department store chain and Evans Cycles.

His company also owns stakes in French Connection and Debenhams.

I can see the thought process in that. One big multimedia store.

Sports Entertainment?
