GAME, the UK's biggest high street video game retailer, will no longer allow customers to trade in physical video games from next month, staff have told Eurogamer.

Time to wither and die.

Game shops need to shut down.

Good bye.

I've bought hardly anything from GAME over the past ten years or so. I used to really like the stores but the high cost of items and - at my nearest store - often poor service meant that I changed to ordering (physical) stuff online.

Back in the day - throughout the 90s - I used to pop into gaming stores almost every day whilst on my lunch break. Good times!

Might be worth popping in during the upcoming weeks because I imagine if they wont be taking games in anymore then they will want to get rid of the second hand games they have and stop dealing in second hand altogether.

Yeah, wouldn't be surprised if Game go under this year, surely trade ins helped them a fair bit?

I can't remember the last time I went inside a Game shop, let alone buy anything from them.

The last thing I bought from GAME was my copy of Disco Elysium (NSW). Before that, the last time I used them would almost certainly have been as far back as the GameCube era, most like Double Dash.

Considering their devolution into a toy shop I'm surprised the entire chain hasn't been wound up.

I can’t remember the last time I even saw a Game shop.

Think Doncaster’s branch is closing soon as well, I really don’t know how they’re still going really.

Haven't Mike Ashley and Sport Direct been pulling their strings for the past few years? Like some kind of retail "Weekend at Bernies".

No pre-owned selection is the final nail in the coffin for me. I'd already given up on them years ago but I would still sometimes have a look at the pre-owned rack if I had time to kill.

Last time I went into Game (many, many years ago), their pre-owned section was as expensive, if not moreso, than online new prices. I can't believe they still have stores.

Didn't they go out of business twice and bought out twice? I seem to remember someone I know losing their job over it the first time they went bust.

I wonder how many copies of Disco Elysium have been sold by Game stores across the country?

I’m guessing one.
