I know what you mean. I would always turn the console off in disgust whenever the final boss defeated me and would then dread having to navigate past all the Metroids just to get up to the boss chamber. But if the game was anything like Echoes you would be taken back to just before the boss if you continued.

Still, the time I finally managed to beat the final boss was one of those absolutely epic climaxes where we were both down to our last slivers of life standing toe-to-toe blasting away.

I don't understand the hate for the Meta-Ridley and Metroid Prime bosses, they're easy. Even on Hard they're easy, hell I must've killed them off a dozen times a-piece. If you want fist-through-wall rage from Metroid then I suggest you try the final boss(es) of Metroid Prime 3 on Hypermode difficulty. Even a successful battle with them is 30-40 minutes of really intense madness without a checkpoint in the middle. Hardest fight I ever successfully fought, I tell ya.

Not so much rage in games, more likely rage at people who try to talk to you while you're playing games.

That said, I was pretty pissed off with the hanger level on SWFU.... :evil:

Guitar Hero 3 - The Devil
GTA :SA - Zero's plane missions, as well as when you chase the train with big smoke. Made all the more harsh by the fact it would take you 15 mins to get back and replay that point, only to die again.
Bango Racing - The boss Races specificly, but I found the entire game awe inspiringly difficult.
Golden Eye - Protect Natalya (00 difficulty) - Actually made me cry
Ridge Racer - The Devil Car - took me Months to beat him, and when I did I was overjoyed. A few weeks later my mates dad then wipes my Memory card by accident and I never had the heart to play the game again.

The god awful climb out of Hades in God of War with it's EVIL SPINNING BASTARD SPIKED TOWERS THAT LET YOU CLIMB TO THE SHITTING TOP THEN MAKE YOU FALL ALL THE WAY TO THE mummy strawberry floating BOTTOM AT LEAST 50 COCKING TIMES is one of the few occasions where I've truly lost my temper with a game.

You guys know that there's a save station inside the Impact Crater from which it takes all of a minute to reach the final boss, right?

I had no problems with Zero's plane missions as I adapted pretty quickly to it, but I can definitely sympathise with your point on the Big Smoke Train Shootout fiasco. Fortunately I managed to figure out where I was going wrong. Common sense tells you to get as close as possible to ensure Smoke has the best shot possible, right? Wrong. If you back up a bit he'll pick them off like strawberry floating Rambo.

I think I cried after figuring that out.

Oh God. Easily the toughest part of that game was attempting to prevent her getting killed on Control. I rejoiced when I did it, actually raising my arms up to my face in a "yes!"-esque motion. :lol:

My own horror story comes on Donkey Kong 64, during the minigame known as Beaver Bother. The object of the game is to force twelve Beavers into this hole within a minute. I had countless runs where I managed to sink eleven but not the final beaver. Until this one time, I was onto a winner. I had the sickest start, sinking eight or nine of the buggers in the first half a minute. With fifteen seconds to go I needed just one more. I relaxed, and calmly went about getting this beaver in the hole. Except he didn't want to go. At one point he was actually hovering over the hole, as if peering down into it as the seconds ticked down.

The whistle went... and I went absolutely f*cking ballistic. I stood up and launched my controller against the wall, pulling the console itself off my desk onto the floor and causing the game to crash in the process. This tipped me over the edge. Angry, and shouting much profanity at my controller I proceeded to stamp on it, many, many times, still screaming until I could scream no more.

I was doing a time trail in Tomb Raider: Anniversary. So the levels are pretty big, yeah? There's a lot of room for errors, right?

I was doing the level with the dinosaurs. I'd done it all pretty averagely. I was running towards the end of the level, towards the waterfall. If I had one second more I would've done it, I was literally right there at the end, and I failed. I went absolutely bananas because my boyfriend of the time thought it was hilarious, I had to hit him and throw the controller, I was strawberry floating furious. Don't think I've even played the game since then. Stupid time trails.

I haven't played it in years, but I'd also have to throw in getting the Platinum Relics on Crash Team Racing. An absolute nightmare some of them. I managed to get them all though, somehow. The patience of youth...

Puzzle Quest brings out the RAGE in me becuase of the stupid cheating AI, the number of times it gets just the block it needs is ridiculous.

Also Special Race 30 round Airport Loop on Ridge Racer 6, I've given up on it for a while now as the other car gets infinite nitros. I've had a perfect start, started to pull in front just to have it fire off a double nitro and re-take the lead and there is nothing you can do about it.

N+ hasn't given me the rage yet, I think it's because I expect to do badly. It's like Geometry Wars 2, I know most the time when I fail it's my fault.

Fifa 09 when you're 1-0 down and are taking shot after shot but that damned goaly just keeps saving them. :roll:

BAL mode in pes 2009, where your teams's defenders can't deal with clearances and just let the opposition forwards run up and take the ball.

Everybody's golf on the PSP is starting to make me angry, you do a perfect couple of shots onto the green, the computer player has hit his second shot into the bunker and you are laughing your head off as you have a Birdie and looking like the victor when the computer player pulls of the most outragous chip in :fp:

Challenge Of The Gods on God Of War made me absolutely furious. The fianl challenge (kill enemies to make the platform rise to the top) took me about 40 minutes, trying different combos and attack patterns, getting the knack of parrying, utilising the super bar at the precise moment. Then finding the way to do it was switch to the Artemis Blade and spam L1 + triangle. Over and over again. I was red in the face with rage.

I did him first time i didnt even know he was hard. It wasnt untill later when people were talking about it did i know he was a problem. The strange thing is pretty much straight after that point i got bored and stopped playing. I really need to get back to it.

I don't think I had any issues with KH2 apart from Sephi

I don't usually have an issue with this. But playing the demo of Mirror's Edge and falling repeatedly at the same place had me uncharacteristically riled.
