Loot-boxes? Pay to win? Micro transactions? What game series or publishers/developers have you now dropped because of bullshit!

This topic comes after unisofts utter gooseberry fool P2W game mechanics and their useless lies and excuses to cover it up.

Some of mine

FIFA (last bought Fifa 18)
Assassins Creed (last bough Origins)
COD (last bought years ago)

Haven’t bought an EA game in a while
Dropping Ubisoft
Konami are just Konami and don’t seem to care about their customers

PLAY | Final Fantasy VII Rebirth [92h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S2, HiJack S1, The Apprentice S18
RACE | Westonbirt Half (March), Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

I didn't buy Metal Gear Survive and it seems unlikely I'd buy another new MGS game if Konami put one out.

Technically the last COD game I owned was Finest Hour but I wouldn't count that as dropping the series

None really at this time*, just very picky what games I buy and when I buy them. I don't indulge loot boxes and rarely buy other MTs.

Take the new Ghosts title. I'll buy it dirt cheap long after launch for single player and won't engage in any of the MTs.

*I'm not investing in the next generation at all so will, through that decision, have dropped every developer/publisher. But that's more a lifestyle choice.

For me it's Destiny.

I loved playing Destiny 1 and the group we had from here was great but the team disbanded and I don't enjoy the game solo.
Destiny 2 changed things for the worse and I just can't be bothered with the grind for weapons and armour any more. The raids have become worse with the focus being on making them more and more mechanic heavy to the point where they just aren't fun any more.

The fact they also go through stages of changing items so they become almost worthless after you've spent strawberry floating ages getting it also really becomes tiresome and they've never added a decent support class really disappoints me.

If the gang got back together I'd most likely jump in but I'd only play in groups and only if the new raids are more like the Destiny 1 raids which did let you have some fun and didn't just screw you instantly for not playing exactly how the game wants.

I skipped Battlefront II (Like a lot of people) as well as Middle Earth: Shadow of War because of all the egregious shite they packed them with.

I've stopped playing Elder Scrolls Online. Predominantly because I just couldn't get my head around how to play the game, but also because the increasing combination of monthly subscription, multiple in-game currencies and most cool stuff being hidden in loot boxes just turned me off.

Most EA games, I love ubisoft for their E3 but the state of some of their micro transactions and the grind is silly now. Especially assassin's creed. It's just so much padding.

I don't like Epic but want Borderlands 3, but at £105 digitally with the season pass they can strawberry float right off. I'll get it when it's cheap. Hopefully at Christmas.

I did drop Pokémon Go when I was spending £10 to £20 a month to hatch eggs.

Wish my image sig would work

Mario & Luigi Dream Team was too painful to sit through, so dropped the series even tho I loved the first 3.

Literally the same for Paper Mario and Sticker Star.

Why can't Nintendo make good Mario RPGs anymore?

Much like you, Rubix, FIFA18 is the last FIFA game I've purchased. Although it has nothing to do with the Ultimate Team lootbox bullshit, more I just don't see the value in shelling out £40+ each year for updated kits and squads.

I'll also be sticking with Wildlands after learning that the new Ghost Recon is full of microtransaction bullshit, just can't abide it.

FIFA is a series where I look to buy it every other year, at the most really.

So this is a weird one because I can't disagree with anything you've said; D1 hit it's stride with Taken King and then D2 just took all the good stuff and binned it. But! Since Forsaken it's been every bit as good as it ever was, and with the additions of the annual pass stuff and now Shadowkeep, it's never been in a better place.

And the raids have been great since the base game too! I dislike the Leviathan as, yes it's fiddly as strawberry float, but The Last Wish and the Annual Pass one (the one that takes place in the last city) are excellent, involving a good combination of damage dealing, puzzles and teamwork.

Like you though, I've not played, almost at all, since my clan collapsed. A few misinterpreted words on the Discord, an overly sensitive leader... It all just came crashing down. Which was a shame! There were some genuinely cool folks. But after playing the game at it's full potential, trying to solo it just isn't fun anymore.

This stuff generally doesn't bother me to be honest, in CoD it's purely cosmetic, doesn't affect the gameplay in any way and you get a load of stuff from playing the game. Apex gives you loads of stuff for playing the game and it's free.

That said I haven't bothered with AC Odyssey yet because these games don't need more grindy gooseberry fool to do.

I immediately traded in CTR when they announced micro transactions.

I also haven't bought a COD game in years because of them either.

All three of those, earlier than you infact, but went back to COD for blackout, thankfully stopped playing before the real shithousery loot box stuff started.

Destiny, their DLC model was ridiculous under activision.

It's been said a million times. The ONLY way any of this will stop is when it effects these publishers bottom line.

Stop buying the games, or at the very least stop buying them at and around launch. Simple as that really.

Nothing, really. I've put some things on the shelf because it, say, wasn't the right time to play some 80+ hour monstrosity (AC Odyssey) or stopped playing something because the gameplay in that particular entry is shite (FIFA20), but I don't have so little self control that as soon as a good game adds microtransactions I ban myself from playing it.

Maybe loot boxes and microtransactions ruin the gameplay for some titles but for the most part, the titles people make the most noise about, time and time again, are rarely affected in a way that is so significant that the game suddenly becomes unenjoyable if you don't engage with them. Some idiots are so easily worked into a fervour by garbage YouTube "personalities" whose whole bit is to get "good and mad" about the latest BIG PUBLISHER CONTROVERSY that any genuine discussion around how fun a huge release is to play is drowned out by toxic discourse and dogpiling.

The "fight back" and "take a stand" rhetoric is dumb and embarrassing. Don't play it if you don't like it. Who gives a strawberry float.

Good morning :slol:
