Seriously?

I have a copy of that.

Is four swords adventures a rarity? never thought about it

I assumed it was, it was tricky to get hold of at the time and i never saw many copies afterwards.

Also, it seems pretty expensive on ebay generally: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from ... s&_sacat=0

The only imported game i had on the GC was a US copy of Animal Crossing. The delay that game had between US and UK releases was insane (i think it might have been at least 18 months) so in the end i decided to take the freeloader/playasia option.

The end of the GC era coincided with me having a part-time job and having income for the first time. As a result, I made a point of hoovering up a lot of the remaining titles (and got quite a few from people on here).

Off the top of my head, I have: Chibi Robo, Starfox Assault, Osama, Baiten Kaitos, Fire Emblem, Viewriful Joe 2, Viewitful Joe and that weird Smash Bros-style game, Mario Baseball, Donkey Konga 2 and 3, Zelda Four Swords, Pokémon XD, Twilight Princess, Tales of Symphonia, Paper Mario 2, Beyond Good and Evil, Resi 2, 3 and Code Veronica, Kirby's Air Ride.

This is coupled with stuff I picked up at launch because I knew they might become rare, like MGS The Twin Snakes and Skies of Arcadia. Basically

I've also did this to a certain extent with the N64 - I've got Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, for example - but the cardboard boxes mean these might not be in the best condition. I tried to keep them in decent nick, but I was about 13 and stupidly stacked my N64 games vertically. What a damned fool.

Got some rare DS games included Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

For the GameCube stuff, I am tempted to sell a lot of them. I doubt I will ever play them again. If I was single, I probably would bring my GameCube from my parents' to my place, but not sure I have the time to actually play anything that isn't current gen. It feels like a lot of money sitting on my shelf, though also feels like a lot of those games will only increase in value. Some, like Skies of Arcadia, don't seem like they will get a current gen re-release and I would love to play it again one day, but just don't have the time.

I wonder if I've got about £2000 of stuff just sitting there.

I know, even an average game like Kirby Air Ride fetches a high price...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from ... e&_sacat=0

I too bought a lot of GC games towards the end of that era, including this one (got it cheap at the time at Gamestation).

Gamestation was a haven for rare GC games around 2005-2006. Didn't have the mark up that Game had, and maintained GC stock for a quite a few years after the console's demise.

Saying that, some of the rare titles did cost me clos to RRP even back then. Pokémon XD has probably never been lower than £40...

My Pokemon XD was £35 from a game called PlayTime second hand ..... when I saw it I grabbed it as I had a really strong feeling that was the best I would do with it.

I actually have videos showing what I think is all of my GameCube games... not the best collection but pretty decent

Just looked in my cupboard, and i have perfect condition boxed copies (only thing missing is cellophane wrap) of...

Chibi Robo
Kirby Air Ride
Starfox Assault
Battalion Wars
Pokemon XD
Pikmin 2
Mario Party 6 & 7
Four Swords Adventures
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
Doshin The Giant

Plus i also have Banjo Tooie on N64, Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast), and Pokemon Green (1996 Japanese original).

Actually, speaking of that Pokemon game, i made this a few years back...

Of course i have, i played all my games, that's why i said they were missing the cellophane wrap.

It's just i have a tendency to keep my stuff in excellent condition even when it's been used.

I feel sad that we threw out all our old PC game boxes for like theme hospital, xwing, tiefighter, rogue squadron and age of empires and stuff. They're not worth anything but they were cool and almost impossible to get back these days.

They're starting to take and sell some of those PC games at CeX now.

A damn good thing that they've finally started pricing boxed with manual and boxed without manual separately as it was the case that you would get ripped off buying or selling based on the manual being present or not.
Herdanos wrote:Those of you with loads of interesting niche physical stuff should consider creating accounts on Instagram (yes I'm serious) and posting videos of your stuff. Might be an easy way to make a little bit of ad money?

EDIT: this is a fairly extreme example (Unless some of you really do have this impressive a collection!) but see below:

There isn't really any way to monetise content on Instagram, you have to funnel people to buying gooseberry fool or privately arrange sponsored collaborations with agencies etc.

For me I have a bunch of GC games and GBA games, but the one I most recently checked was Resident Evil 2 for DC in very good condition goes for £75. I think it was around £50/60. I can't even remember how I got it. I think it came with my Dreamcast that was unfortunately stolen out of storage in good nick and boxed. I'm always thinking about selling stuff because of cost of living but I know I would regret it when prices just keep increasing.

GC has remained fairly consistent for a while. I guess it matters whether you want to be able to eventually buy back some of your games at the same price you sold them for, at the risk that they become unattainably expensive and you can ever justify owning them again.

I bought an import copy of Pokemon Crystal from an unlicensed video box store in my hometown for standard £25 price, I was maybe around 13... Not sure. For some reason, the NTSC copy seems rarer and it can go for over £300 in good condition (mine is).

Besides those my other "bought when no-one was buying GameCube games" (or other formats) would have to be Paper Mario TTYD, I believe I paid around £30 and it can go over £100. Awesome game. I may consider shifting it when the HD version is released but again, you never know how they might appreciate in 10, 20 years time. With no other kind of savings it would seem foolish... interest rates are crap, so some video games are literally better than money or gold.
