...and will now probably won't ever find the time to actually play?
There's a whole bunch of games I've not found the time for and probably never will due to a collection of reasons. Time, obviously, but also a huge back catalogue, other pastimes and, of course, games I'm looking ahead at.
There's lots of indies I always miss but for big hitters I had interest in from 2018 God of War, Spiderman, Forza Horizon 4, RDR2 and AC Odyssey will most likely now never find their way into my collection and for this year (so far) Ace Combat 7, Metro Exodus and Resident Evil 2. Although RE2 I suspect will find it's way into said collection because, well, it's Resident Evil.
So, any games you have felt you've had bail on or do you just try and play everything?
Red Dead Redemption 2, by all accounts it's such a slow starter that I don't think I'll ever find the time for it, even though I want to try it out first hand. Also because it probably won't drop in price much.
I've also not played Horizon: Zero Dawn, Spiderman or God of War. My girlfriend owns the first two so they are easily accessible, but they're just too intimidating as time sinks when I'm not that interested in them. The same goes for Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey - I could play either tonight if I wanted to, but they are just too big when I only have a passing interest. If they were 6 hour campaigns then I'd be much more likely to give them a play through.
I think there is a chance I'll buy and play God of War, but it's a small one.
Loads - there are too many games which ask for all of your time, a symptom of the live service model being popular. I couldn't face AC Odyssey after getting through Origins and just wanting it to be over after the 50 hour mark
Forza Horizon 4, Red Dead Redemption 2 (only played around an hour), Detroit, Spyro the Dragon Trilogy (just started that today), God of War, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Spider Man...
I've been playing a lot of V-Rally 4 recently, so I've only just now got round to DiRT 4, never mind about DiRT Rally 2. And going further back, MGS5, Batman Arkham, Mad Max, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Uncharted 4 and Uncharted The Lost Legacy.
There's loads of stuff basically that I will definitely play, I'm just now rather slow in getting there. It's not a money issue because by the time I get there everything is under 20 quid or on PS Plus, it's a time thing. That's why when people tell me 'Oh, I'm bored, there's nothing to do' it annoys me!
Speaking of racing games, now i ask myself if something new is different to what i currently have. Even though v rally 4 is cheap at the moment i have loads of rally games i've barely played, so can't justify another one on the pile.

V Rally 4 is a good arcade game, if a little twitchy. Some great rally stages as well. I particularly love the tight streets of rural Japan.
On topic, as much as I loved Dirt Rally I won't be picking up 2 and pretty much for the same reasons as yourself.

I'm tempted to ditch dirt rally as i'm too casual nowadays to git gud enough to get the most out of it. V-Rally does look fun though.
Quite a lot now I’m trying to limit myself to my Switch (and the odd replay of Pokémon on my 3DS) rather than buy stuff on PS4 to rarely/never play. At least limiting myself to my Switch I stand a reasonable chance of keeping my backlog to a minimum.
On PS4 alone I’d have loved to play Red Dead Redemption 2, God Of War, Spider-Man, AC Odyssey (still need to play Origins!), F1 2018 but I really don’t feel like I have the time to dedicate to any of them at the moment. This year there’s already DiRT Rally 2.0, Resident Evil 2 remake, there’ll be more shortly as well.
Lots and lots and lots of games, but the standout ones from memory are:
Horizon: Zero Dawn Spider-Man Assassin's Creed: Odyssey Astro Bot God of War Ace Combat 7 Resident Evil 2
I'm sure I'll pick up at least half of these when they've had significant price drops, but to be honest the thought of starting a new sprawling open world game like AC or Horizon fills me with dread. I know I'll be starting something I'll never realistically finish
Because of Gamepass on Xbox I've missed a few of the bigger games, when I say miss, what tends to happen is, cos Gamepass has me ticking along with new titles and exclusives monthly, I get a pretty good influx of games every couple of weeks. I'd have probably bought Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 4 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider at launch if they wheren't on Gamepass (I had a strong feeling SotTR would be on gamepass within a few months and here it is).
Cos of gamepass then, I really don't feel the urge to buy the latest and greatest, as such I wait for them to be at MOST half price in a sale, that's why I have AC Odyssey, Divinity Original Sin 2 and Battlefield 5. Last night I bought Far Cry 5 Gold Edition (all the DLC and FC3 Classic) for €31 on xbox store, looking forward to dat native 4K FC5 tonight.
The only games I've bought full price in the past several months has been Red Dead 2 and Resi 2. I regret buying Resi 2 though tbh. I could have waited longer, I'm on final chapter of RDR2 so ill finish it soon, AC Odyssey will take me about a year to complete as Origins took that long, same with FC5 probably but If a game is good enough I will go back to it and finish it, took about a year for the Witcher 3 too. Metro Exodus will be bought when it's on sale for half price, be it on xbox store or cdkeys, once it's digital it's all good.
