Two great magazines - such an absolute shame. Gaming magazines very much shaped my childhood, so its sad to see two more hit the hay.

GamesTM was the non-shit EDGE.

Future are such cheeky bastards. They make it hard to cancel anyway (you have to write to them, you can’t phone/email) and even if they cancel the magazine you want, they just send you a different one?

I had a glance through the latest Edge magazine in WHSmith the other day, there was barely anything of any interest in it whatsoever.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Same here, other than that 8 page Red Dead Redemption 2 feature there was nothing. Most pages these days seem to be dedicated to developers and indie titles.

I guess indie devs our there main customer these days though.

Just seen this announcement from Future:

If you change devices or delete the app, then you will not be able to access the app or any of your issues again. Unfortunately this is beyond our control.

One of the major drawbacks of purchasing digital copies of magazines when they close.

 .

I was kinda thinking about switching to digital but this seems a bit daft. It's crazy how pirated stuff seems to be a better option than buying digitally through the official channel :fp: .

You'd think they would offer some kind of offline download in a case like this so people can archive their stuff.
It's not like they need to worry about distribution since they clearly aren't going to be trying to sell back issues.

That's why I buy and like reading Edge! Indie discoverability and developer insight/interviews that you don't get elsewhere. If it was all just reviews then it would have no differentiation over free articles online, other than potentially the writing quality
