Everyone loves that feeling of accomplishment - the succulent feeling of air-punching, "strawberry floating get in!" arms aloft euphoria when playing games. It's the highs of the drug that is our hobby.
Apparently it's always nice to have something to aim for in life - on planet Game, what things are you hoping to achieve this year, and in the years beyond?
Some of mine are silly, but please post yours, no matter how odd they sound.
I aim to -

Break the 5000G mark before 2008 ends
Ensure that every game that is released in this hectic period gets the time, effort and patience it may or may not deserve
Start a gaming blog
Start playing Wii games on my Wii - damn VC :x

What are you lot aiming for?

Break 20000 by the end of the year.
Gain 30000 by the end of next.

If I can manage to win at least 5 single player races in Motorstorm 2, I'll be pleased with myself.

Also, establishing a few decent levels on LBP would be nice. And maybe getting round to starting some of the games I've bought recently. :|

That would require you to play at least 30 X360 games! That's quite the challenge!

Gaming Goals for 2008: Get my money's worth out of the games I get.
Gaming Goals for 2009: Don't waste money. Don't pre-order anything that isn't a dead cert for awesome. Use Quidco and money off coupons wherever possible.

Fiscal acumen. I has it.

Make time to play games in which I don't have to worry that I should be doing something else.

I have this unoffical aim of trying to get 500G's for major Xbox 360 game purchases.

I've got Fable 2 on the go and a couple of others lined up (Saints Row, PES) and will probably pick up a couple at Xmas (GOW2, LOTR : Conquest and maybe an impulse buy just before I break for Xmas).

After Xmas I might try and hit 10000 G's before buying another game (currently on 6500 G's), which means I'll have to play through each game a fair way. This should keep me going through those dark winter months and well into spring.

Other than that, I will try and make a level for LBP and upload it (expect lots of rocket powered cars and ramps based on my beta efforts) and maybe upload some Singstar vids when I can perfect the Freddie Mercury pose.

Edit : I should also second Alvin's goals which I started to adopt last year and as a result found I enjoyed my games more when I played fewer of them. Flatout UC lasted me well over a year.. reminds me, I wonder if I'm still No 2 in the world?

My main goal is to buy less games and give the ones I already own some time and dedication. It's never going to happen but it's always nice to dream.

Edit - I'm going to buy a PS3 and a 1080p HDTV as well. Hurrah.

My goal is to stop behaving so atrociously in my egregious breakage of NDAs and embargoes.

You should stop accepting payments from publishers while you're at it.

Try and hit 70000gs by the end of the year
Hit level 70 with my mage on WoW
Finish Fallout 3 and Fable II on good, nuetral and evil modes.
Complete manager mode on Fifa 09
Not spend 100 hours a week playing FM09
and finally, to appreciate Hugo's wisdom a littl bit more every single day

Yawn! Here we go again! :fp:

I second Alvin's goals.

Last year one of my New Years Resolutions was to not spend as much on games. That resolution lasted all of a few hours as I imported the PS3 version of Rock Band within the first couple of days of the year.

After this week's releases (LBP & GHWT - not sure about GoW2 yet) I'm determined to cut down on my spending, especially as I've now got a much bigger mortgage that I had a few months ago.

I really will try and make the most out of the games I've got - I'm currently playing Rock Band 2 & Fable 2 mostly, but I also have Buzz, Singstar, FIFA09 and NHL09 to play. In addition to loads of other games that I've hardly played.

This. Always wanted to do it, never seem to find the real enthusaism to try. I suspect I'd lose interest very quickly and it'd be just another sad, failed project...
