Gaming Headset Recommendations

Howdy folks! I'm in the market for a new gaming headset as I've been using a very cheap set of over ear headphones for the last few years and could really do with an upgrade - any recommendations would be appreciated! :toot:

I'm mainly gaming on PC or Switch these days so anything that is compatible there would be grand. I'm not sure if everything has moved on to USB now but something that still has a 3.5mm jack would be handy as it would be nice to be able to plug it into any old devices I've still got as well.

I'm not really a fan of all the neon glowing bullshit you tend to see these days so anything with a simpler look would be nice. Probably looking in the £30 - £50 price range, but if anyone can convince me that it's worth paying more then I'll consider it!

Get a mic and headphones seperately. Headsets are always bad.

I'll also vote for separate mic and headphones, or at least a set of headphones with built-in mic that isn't marketed for "gamers", especially as they tend to be for Xbox One and PS4. For that price range, you might find it easier affording the latter.

I used a pair of Marshall Major II wired headphones, which seem to be available for under £50 online right now and I was pretty happy with the mic quality on those, though you may need a headphone-mic splitter cable if you have a separate microphone port. It works great if you have a combined one, like you get on laptops and smartphones.

Failing that, I think Logitech do some pretty good wired headsets, too.

Sweet rig!

In Switch terms I guess that's why the 3.5mm jack would be handy so I can just connect it to the Switch or the TV directly for sound and sort the mic issue separately.

In terms of separate mic is that a desk standing type deal people are thinking about? I'm rarely at a desk even for PC gaming these days so I'm not sure I'd make the best use of one like that.
