I'd like one. Nice one under £600

Could someone recommend a website or even an actual product please?

Thanks

Under £600 is a bit cheap for a gaming laptop.

Toshiba have a few in that price range with a 2GB Dedicated Graphics card.

I have one that was just over £700.00

As most people will say though it's cheaper to get a PC for gaming as you get more bang for your buck and parts are easier to replace.

No, I can't recommend one.

I wouldn't recommend a gaming laptop. Doubly so at the £600 budget you've set. You would have to go second hand and hope someone is extremely generous.

They are expensive as hell and mostly non-upgradable. As far as I can see there are a few good things about owning one and a massive list of down sides. Fortunately there are plenty of games that will run fine on a run of the mill laptop these days.

What's your use-case? I think you might be better off getting an OK gaming PC, and a cheap laptop (or a tablet?) for on-the-go stuff.

Thanks for advice.

Further Info

I have my MacBook Pro for all things creative, my iPad for all things mobile.
PS4, and Xbone for all things console.

I live in a beautiful yet tiny cottage - there is no room for a tower, monitor and desk - so I need a gaming laptop.

So it's laptop, or nothing. So I choose laptop. :)

I haven't got room for any of the above, either. I've got a relatively small case which I have next to my TV. My computer boots straight into Steam Big Picture Mode and I control it all with my 360 pad.

I may buy a wireless keyboard with built in trackpad but don't want more plastic tat in my living room. The stream controller might be an option if the keyboard typing works well.

Is certainly an option worth considering.

Depending on the spec you might be able to play some games on your macbook quite well if you install Windows.

For example I have a GeForce 330M 512MB and I can run most Source based games on high settings.

I recommend doing that, and building a mini itx machine to hook up to your telly, or use game steaming in Steam to play it on your Macbook screen.

You will have a far better experience and your kit won't be redundant in a few years as you can easily just upgrade the graphics card. You can build a mean computer for £600.

It's laptop or small computer. There are form factors other than ATX. You can get PC cases that aren't too far off game console size.

I'd rather you played console games than throw your money away on a "gaming" laptop.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I've got a miniITX case and despite miniITX boards not allowing two cards, you can get pretty much any single card into them so upgrading is a doddle.

Mine is a prodigy which is huge for a miniITX case but you can get smaller. The Corsair 250 and Fractal Node are nice and small.

£600 should be plenty to get a machine that can run mount and blade, so you're all set for PC gaming

I'm beginning to regret not going for an mini ATX case now I've got a pair of bookshelf speakers sitting on my desk.

my current case is a Delfine R4, which, while being nice and quiet is rather large for my requirements.

I regret building to ATX on my current rig. Next build I'm doing will be mATX or mITX.

By the way I have a lenovo Y510p it's about a year old but pretty decent for gaming. You may be able to get one for around 700 now.

My question would be what kind of games do you intend to play, if its really high end stuff then i would say no unless you want to spend over a grand, if though it's indie games, some mid range stuff and doing emulation etc then £600 should be fine. What specifically will you want to play.

I use an MSI GT60 which I've been using the past 3+ years. For the price it cost at the time (was selling for over £2,500 over here in the UK when I'd bought mine at about 70% off the retail price) I wish now I'd gotten a proper PC built but at the time I wanted something I could take with me because I was frequently abroad. Can't fault the laptop, it was the first of the 3rd gen i7's with 12GB ram and I still play the majority of games on highest settings on the old GTX 670m (3GB) card that's in it. The card can be upgraded but the price of mobile graphics cards are ridiculous and would probably cover the cost of obtaining your parts for a PC.
