It's also nice that their statement confirms they consider themselves a "news organisation". I'm sure I've heard that they've escaped sanction before because OFCOM said it was entertainment not news.

This isn’t a press release. The language throughout is so clearly aimed at their viewers - alarming, fighting, terrify.

And that last line is so laughable. Whatever their political persuasion? Really?!

In a way Ofcom are kind of to blame for being so slow to act and allowing this in the first place. We had Ofcom to prevent the Fox News style coming to the UK. I'd say now, GB News are arguably much much worse than Fox News currently.

It needs to be severely neutered. Parliament also needs to act to prevent MPs and Lords from presenting news or current affairs programmes whilst they are in office. I'd personally go further and say no elected politician (or Peer) should be allowed to present anything at all on TV.

For example, taking aside what he says on air, Rees-Mogg will be our MP candidate next election due to boundary changes. Having a prime time TV show, even if he is off air during the campaign, is an absolutely ridiculous advantage to have over the other candidates who are mostly unknown.

I've no problem with an MP guest hosting a TV/radio show, outside of an election period.

But it's outrageous that a sitting MP, of any party, has their own permanent TV/radio show.

Rees-Mogg having his own show should be enough to put anyone off voting for him. He is repulsive. How can anyone listen to him and not want to knock his teeth out?

GB News is already making a huge loss. It's a vehicle to deliver a political message. An additional fine won't impact them in any way. Rishi Sunak as PM is the person who should be penalised by it, with the channel prevented from further breaches.

Hilariously though, your typical GB News viewer will be voting Reform UK anyway.

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

I don't think even guest hosting should be allowed. It gave Boris Johnson a massive PR boost when he was seen on HIGNFY, far above any of his election rivals could expect.

Unless GB News are severely curtailed, I could genuinely see the leader of a Tory opposition having a nightly or weekly prime time show on the channel next year. It's literally a channel run for one particular political party, there is no attempt at balance.

Laurence Fuckwit continues his bellendery. I can’t decide what’s more irritating: his attempt at “common man” language (calling the bus driver “boss”, “that’s what ’appened”), or him being indignant at being told what to do, then literally ten seconds later telling someone else what to do.

He's definitely drunk but he was the passenger apparently.

The car isn't taxed either.

I've done a bit of investigating (look, it's Sunday evening, and I'm in that kind of mood). Bus route 196 Norwood Junction (visible on side of bus in video): at that upcoming junction, the bus turns right, so wouldn't have been manoeuvring into the left lane.

This is how narrow the lanes are. The bus would have been where the blue car is.
Image

I think the car is an Alfa 156 Sportwagon - width 1,745mm. A Routemaster bus is 2,520mm wide - 44% wider than that car. So clearly the bus is going to have to partly occupy the left hand lane, or hit oncoming traffic.

Of course, the bus will have a rear camera that will show if Foxwit's driver tried to pass a moving bus on a tight left bend.
