Blimey, Shaun Ryder looks rough these days. He's only 58 2 years older than Robert Downey Jnr but obviously he was doing all the wrong drugs.

It's a strawberry floating shock Sean Ryder has reached 58. He does seem to be metamorphosing in to a giant red potato.

Isn’t that the Scottish guy from Only an Excuse who visits castles and historical battlefields? What’s he doing on there

I flicked over the other morning to see the Police Camera Action! guy talking to some guy in his car about restaurants. It’s all over the place

He is a "legit" historian, to the best of my knowledge. I've never known him to be on Only an Excuse?

Well, not him but his likeness in a parody. Just don’t know the names of any other shows he features in.

He's a historian but he's spent the last year moaning about lockdown and masks. Which is why he has a gig on GBeebies.

Ah right, yeah probably.

Thing is, he's not actually a fantastic historian. Seems a decent enough broadcaster, but his books haven't always been well received. https://www.scotsman.com/arts-and-culture/books/neil-oliver-wisdom-ancients-book-review-enough-platitudes-get-him-job-card-company-2977085

I think I've seen him on Coast?

Inviting Shaun Ryder on during the day for a live interview, they knew exactly what they were doing.

I think it's becoming increasingly clear that absolutely nobody involved with the production of this channel knows what they're doing.

Andrew Neil & the Infocalypse
GB News isn't crap, it's dangerous

https://keepingthereceipts.substack.com ... nfocalypse

The crapness is hugely enjoyable. But the crapness is dangerous. Because GB News is dangerous. And the crapper it is, and the more attention it gets, the more dangerous it becomes.

In a single week, GB News has already shifted the balance of power between the government and the press. And it’s only the beginning. Martin Moore believes GB News will have a profound effect not just in shifting discourse online but also on the BBC. ‘The BBC is incredibly influenced by what’s in the press. GB News is going to make it even more self-conscious. It’s now got another broadcast channel that has been set up to explicitly critique the way the BBC is run. It will become even more self-conscious even neuralgic about the way it covers certain topics.’

Odd use of the word neuralgic. Do you think he meant neurotic?

Apparently they’re also going to be launching a radio station within the next few weeks, but with the idea being that the majority of the content will be a simulcast of what is on TV. What with the way the programming is structured (nothing I’ve seen actually requires a picture), maybe the whole idea is to run the TV station as a temporary measure before shifting over to radio (which is enormously cheaper to run). Strong competition with LBC, BBC Radio 4 and Times Radio there though. Anyone know how Times Radio is performing?

Aside from incompetence- which they definitely have in spades - it would go some way to explain why the studio looks like a temporary construct if the whole end game is actually radio.

They've already signed up their main presenter for the radio version.

They are running to radio with tail between legs. It certainly isnt a grand plan, they wanted to be Fox.
