Piers Morgan Uncensored was beaten by both the BBC and Sky in the Wednesday night ratings, according to new BARB data.
The BBC News channel pulled in 127,000 at 8pm across the hour, followed by Sky News with 84,000.
Piers Morgan on TalkTV however only managed 77,000.
On social media, Morgan's colleague Tom Newton Dunn has hit out against those criticising the new station.
Posting on Twitter, the former political editor at The Sun echoed Morgan's comments that it's no longer about TV audiences.
"It’s not all about linear watching any more, which is all the daily BARB figures show. Today, there is also streaming, digital engagement and apps, which is where TV watching is going. Fwiw, we’re pleased with how much attention we’re getting so far on all these forums,
Dunn continued, "Yes, our linear watching is low - though it fluctuates - that’s undeniable. It’s very hard to break into a crowded market place, as others have shown in the last year but have gone on to do well. It always takes a long time to change people's habits and build a firm audience.
"We have a brilliant and hugely hard working team, and we have patience. What matters to us now is we’re producing an interesting news programme that does things differently and offers viewers choice. If we can keep that up, we’re confident we can slowly build a loyal audience."
When your television ratings are great, it's all about television ratings. When your television ratings are completely in the toilet, it's all about ENGAGEMENT. See: Morgan at the start of last week vs. Morgan at the end of the week when it had all collapsed.
