I already have a PS camera from the PS4 launch so presume that would work with the latest PSVR unit?

Do I have to buy the Move Controllers or are they optional?

Can I use my PS 2.0 official headphones at the same time too or do things get in the way of each other?

1. Yes, the new camera's changes are merely aesthetic.

2. No, the majority of games us dualshock.

3. Yes, they fit over the headset.

Is it worth £260 to play Wipeout like that? The answer is yes.

"The Invisible Hours" might not be for everyone, but it's the kind of VR experience I've dreamed of.

Not a game, more like a murder mystery film/drama - you can basically be anywhere in the entire location while action continues in real time. So you might be watching a scene play out in front of you, but hear something happen in another room - overhear a conversation or something. So you can choose to leave where you are and go and check out what is going on. All these interacting scenes/characters play out in real time, and you can rewind, pause and fast forward, trying to piece together what happened.

Very hard to say any more about it without spoilers... feel free to ask about it. I've pretty much worked it out but still finding out major revelations about the characters.

It's normally expensive for a VR game - £35 - but it's half price in the sale right now.

I would add that while most games can use the Dualshock, the Move Controllers add a hell of a lot to the experience. Plus there are some games that do need them. They're well worth the investment.

VR turned Skyrim from another RPG to a vibrant world for me. The companion went from lootmule to actual travelling buddy who then gets murdered, causing me to recruit allies to go and seek vengence with me. I don't play it anymore as I have to go back to a world without them in it.

Yeah, VR is good!

Yeah I’m very tempted to get it for Skyrim VR. I’m 110hrs in on the Switch version at present and having a little break from it but have the PS4 version in my PSN cart for £15.99 but am holding off as I know I won’t get time to finish the Switch, PS4 and VR versions, let alone with everything else in my backlog

Got the VR start pack today at the new price point £259.99. Just been trying out the mini games so far, pretty good but shame about the low res and feeling sick after playing the games with a lot of movement.
I will have a try a few more games.

You need to try out the best stuff on the system, with PSVR and VR in general some things just work better than others. The movement obviously, but also different things some of which are not that obvious.

If a game is good enough and immersive enough the graphical limitations kind of fall away (at least they do for me).

I presume you are mostly aware of the best stuff available on the system, but perhaps there ought to be a master list of things people have to try. For me a top 5 on PSVR would have to include Resident Evil 7, Rez Infinite, Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: VR Mission, Farpoint (with AIM controller) and Thumper.

That sounds promising. Thanks for the advice. I shall get Res Evil 7 as my first VR game :)

This sounds great, and it's actually less than half price atm (11.74). I have not been following psvr recently and it sounds right up my alley.

Couple of quick questions - does it benefit from a PS4 pro patch? And also how long roughly does it take to finish it with a satisfactory number of loose ends tied?

Thanks again for bringing this one to my attention. Sounds perfect for vr.

Not sure about a PS Pro patch, I have a vanilla PS4. It's the usual story with PSVR of items being close up are fully detailed and textured, but futher away becomes rather more blurry/pixelated. I prefer the look of it to Skyrim, as an example. The environment and characters are well detailed, and animated well on the whole.

In terms of game time, I so lost myself in it over a few play sessions that I couldn't really say.
The 'plot' is over an hour or so, but you need to be in multiple places through that timeline, some forums are saying 6-7 hours. I think I 'solved it' before then, but I still keep going back to find all the connections between characters. Some genuine 'OMG' plot moments as it dawns on you.

There's also a bunch of 'collectables' that you find around the place.

I think if you are expecting an experience rather than a game, and the premise interests you, then I'd definitely get it. I'd love more VR experiences like this, I hope more are coming.

I need to go back! I need to know how [spoiler redacted] came about!

Edit: final point - it uses teleporting, in case that is an issue.

Good to see you guys picking it up.

Welcome to the future!

Seriously though I hope you all enjoy it.
Here's a massive post I sent my mate when he got his last year.

Here's some suggestions for you.

Go through the PS Store and download every bit of free VR content you can find. There's some great stuff in there to try out.

A lot of stuff requires the Move Controllers to play. I would definitely recommend getting a pair as soon as possible. Game pages on PS Store will tell you if they support the pad on it's own though.

Generally speaking I would recommend starting with stationary games before diving into Skyrim, Resident Evil, Farpoint. It can take some time to get your "VR Legs" so to speak, though everyone is different.

If you do feel queasy take the headset off and take a break. Don't try and push through it. As your body gets more used to VR you'll be able to go longer and longer. I never had any issues with it from the start, but different people react different ways.

Not every game requires you to stand, so find out what works best for different games. I would definitely play Skyrim sat down if you can. It helps reduce the weird feeling from walking forward.

Many games will have "comfort" settings to help reduce the nausea that some people experience in VR. Skyrim has a very good set of options in that regard.

Make sure the headset is on a level surface when you turn it on. It can help reduce drift that can occur over time. Same for the Move Controllers when you get them.

Games

Playstation VR Demo Collection 1 + 2 & Pack-In-Disc
I would recommend downloading these. They contain 10 or so different game demos each, though there are some duplicates. Most games are already out, but (Especially on the 2nd collection) there are some that aren't out yet. I would especially recommend the following:

Collection 1 (Download)
Tumble VR
Until Dawn Rush of Blood (I won't play it as I'm a shite bag, but I hear it's good).
Headmaster
Rez Infinite
Thumper
Allumette (Short VR film)
Job Simulator*

Collection 2 (Download)
Moss
Rez Infinite
Raw Data*

Demo Disc (Included with the VR when I got it)
Driveclub VR
* Requires Move Controllers

The past few months on PS+ have had some VR games included. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Rigs and Bound. If you've been adding them to your account (As you should even if you don't own the system) you'll have them as well. I've not played any of them yet though.

Top Games
Superhot VR (Needs Moves)
Skyrim
Farpoint (FPS - Try and get the Disc version with the AIM controller)
Polybius (Trippy old school shoot-em-up that can also be played without VR)
I Expect You To Die (Awesome puzzle room game. Like a 60s Bond themed Crystal Maze game)
Resident Evil VII (strawberry float no for me, but again meant to be very good/scary)
Kitchen (VR Demo for RE 7)
Job Simulator (Very silly, fun game. Moves required)
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes (2+ Player game where you have to work together to defuse bombs. Great fun at parties)
Tumble VR (Excellent block stacking puzzle game)
Batman: Arkham VR (Be the Batman, but not much replay value unfortunately)
Driveclub VR (strawberry floating amazing with a wheel).
Raw Data (FPS wave shooter. Good fun from what I've played of the demo)
Moss (Not out till the end of february, but the demo is very charming)
Rec Room (Free social VR space where you can meet and play with people on both PS4 and PC).
Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV (Fishing in the Final Fantasy universe. Supposedly very good).
Doom VFR (A version of the most recent Doom made for VR. Not out till the 6th December, but looking very good).

In addition to those games I would definitely add Wipeout Omega Collection (Just got a free VR update), Star Wars Battlefront 2016 VR Mission (Utterly amazing), Moss (Stunning).

I'm sure there's more, but that's a good starting point.

On the subject of the AIM controller, Farpoint + AIM can still be had for around £45 from Argos and John Lewis.

Buy it while its available if you have VR but haven't picked it up yet. It does have limited use at the moment, but I'd say its worth it for Farpoint alone and it also works well with Doom VFR (stay away from Bravo Team, apparently its terrible).

I'd also recommend - On PlayStation Worlds, The London Heist, there is a surprisingly good shooting gallery mode tucked away in the menu, easy to miss - very moreish!

Just been playing Statik for the first time.

Pretty damn good, currently £5.79 for PS+ subscribers and well worth that sort of money if you have any interest in puzzle games whatsoever.
