I've not played it but I assume the basic horde mode is just a bunch of people against waves of enemies.
I assume by complicating it they've added stuff like turrets and other deployable structures which depending on how well they work or how easy they are to deploy are either great or complete shite.
Kind of, they've added classes:
The Engineer - can fix turrets and structures.
The Scout - doubles the amount of 'power' (used to make turrets/spawn weapons) you can pick up, a scout will run around during or after end of the round picking up 'power' from the dead.
The Soldier - jack of all trades but should be used as your main attack guy.
The Heavy - Big and Explosive weaponry, very good when they level up
The Sniper - as above but spawns with a sniper, again, handy when leveled up.
All of these are customizable via cards you receive after matches/horde matches to increase damage, how much power you use etc etc
Personally I feel it's a step forward, I love that you can put your Power box Anywhere at start essentially making each map changeable per horde game.
