And I'm a decent Gears vet, especially with 4s MP.

Some highlights:

Dynamic Resolution: On Xbox One X tops at native 4K, Xbox One 1080p

Dynamic upscaling based on load

First Gears game to focus on 60fps target across all modes on Xbox One X

New visuals and optimization

Assets and quality it's just about the same on both consoles main difference is resolution

Cutscenes are in engine unlike Gears 4

50% increased polygon count on the characters compared to Gears 4

Cinematic acting and technology is among the best in the industry on par with Naughty Dog

Great achievement to have tons of improvements on console compared to Gears 4, environments and color palette have been improved

Best HDR implementation to date on a game

Good depth of field on both consoles

Destructive elements on the map to make it more dynamic gameplay wise opens the door for varied encounters

Ray traced shadows

Great looking game

3 player split screen 30fps target visuals remain impressive overall

Mostly steady 60fps with a dip every now and then on campaign very stable but not 100% percent

Xbox One S 30fps target

Motion blur disabled on Xbox One S splitscreen

No multiplayer tested for this video

I can join, but my mic isnt working. I have played a bit of Horde before so i know generally what to do.

Does this one have permanent horde skill cards from random loot boxes like 4?

Ok, so... about 2hrs in, haven’t got to Open Areas but, I have to say, so far, this is easiest, the Best Gears Campaign I’ve played so far... again, I caveat it with so far.

I'm probably an hour on but completely agree. Compared to other Gears the campaign is ridiculously dripping in environment detail, story and scale. Its like one of the comics or books finally, superb.

Yeah there is a noticeable improvement in environmental detail, big jump up from 4 (I just finished it last weekend!). I'm only a little bit into 5 but great first impressions!

How do you one-up the phenomenal Xbox One X version of Gears 5? Simple: check out the PC version. Join Alex Battaglia and John Linneman for a detailed breakdown of what's just a couple of points away from what Alex reckons is one of the all-time greatest PC ports.

I've had a few games of the multiplayer quick match and I have a few problems.

Firstly voice chat doesn't seem to work and secondly I don't get given XP at the end of the round so I'm still on zero XP.
I've sent a few messages to a few people in this topic on live can you let me know if you got them?

Lodas of people seem to be experiencing glitches within the campaign. Apparently at some desert level?

Was looking to start this soon, but I might hold off for now.

Seems like some players are getting campaign problems from always needing to be connected to their servers (you can set it to Friends or invite only), I guess to encourage people to jump into each others game. Sounds like you can solve any problems by setting your Xbox to offline in the console settings in the meantime.

Seems like my collectibles achievement has stopped tracking as a result of this :?

Still good excuse to not go after the games more ridiculously grindy achievements if I can’t 100% the game I guess.

Just got to wave 47 on advanced horde with randoms. There was a Kait doing loads of damage, and a JD using death from above and rocking it. But my game froze on that wave 47 and kicked me from the game :x

I believe you’ll get the achievement eventually, sea of thieves had the same problem and they then pushed them out after a week.

We shall see this is a little different, this is a result of gears not being able to track the achievement due to the server issues.

I played AC syndicate when I moved house and had no internet not being connected to live stuffed up about six of the achievements and they never fixed themselves I guess this is a similar thing. But given it’s bound to have effected a number of people maybe there will be a fix.

Campaign is still fantastic though.

Also posted this in the bargains thread

Gears 5 XB1 is just 38.99 on CDKeys.
Includes Gears 4 (not sure if that's standard)
https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/games/ ... _campaign=

Edit: I’ve bought this but forgot to login to my CDKeys account so haven’t received my key or email as yet and nothing showing in my order history. I’ve emailed support asking for help. I know it’s my fault but how can I be allowed to complete an order without being asked to sign in?

Also, should I expect to receive the code straight away, or would it be held back until Gears is released anyway?
