Just finished the campaign for this. It was incredibly annoying in places. I found some of the enemies and encounters really obnoxious. The way the developers combine enemy types for some of the combat sequences, they need to think about this more. A lot of the time, it turns into a complete crapshoot.

Plus the strawberry floating glitches, good lord. At one point, my controls inverted. I have never seen that happen unintentionally in a game before.

Looked amazing though, and it was a improvement on Gears 4.

Turned this on for the first time last night. The boot camp thing is a bit weird. Are they expecting people to be coming fresh to the franchise despite it being the fifth installment?

Played a few rounds of horde, which feels like Gears. I was playing online with a friend, and we both seemed to get the actual game sound dropping out, though. Is that a bug that they've picked up on, or was that just some strange co-incidence that we were both suffering from similar, actually nothing to do with the game, issues?

I'd imagine it will do they are quite hot on it these days had some child pester me after a Casual lite horde game and ended up telling him to "just strawberry float off" and that was enough for a 24 hour party and message ban.

In that context, how do you view the success of a title like Gears 5? It's obviously not about sales for you. So how do you justify the investment in a big project like that? How do you measure its success when you've got this game that's coming out on Game Pass day and date with retail?

Phil Spencer: Gears 5 sold well for us. It sold better than Gears 4. And we feel good about it. If people want to make the choice of buying Gears, that's an option we want to give them. I'm not trying to funnel everybody who wants to play Gears into the subscription. It's about giving gamers choice. Certain players will make the decision as part of Game Pass that they'll either want to start to subscribe, or they're already a subscriber and they stay subscribed.

Right now the easiest metric to talk to Rod or anybody about the success is, how many players did we find with this game? And let the gamers choose how they actually want to get the entitlement for the game. It is an evolution, there's no doubt. Studios have been trained that, what I look at is what are my day one sales, what are my week one sales? And as an industry, the press wants to know. Hey, how do I judge if Gears 5 has been a success? What I will say is we're incredibly happy with Gears 5. It did review well. It has a tonne of players. We're taking feedback on certain things. The economy - I see the feedback on the game as well. But I thought it was a great release in the Gears franchise and it drove a tonne of players who wanted to go play, and that's awesome.

PostGears 5 (XB1/Win10/Steam) - Operation 2: Free For All starts Dec 11th, Gears Tactics trailer on 12th Dec.

Anyone wants to do a run through on insane with me? I am recovering from a major operation so I’ve signed up to game pass for £1 for three months as I have lots of time on my hands. I downloaded the ultimate game pass edition if that makes sense. Still deaf, still unable to use mic.

To be honest I completely forgot I had Gears 5 :slol: .

I played the multiplayer beta and was frustrated voice chat didn't seem to work and since then I've been mainly doing a rewatch of X-Files and playing a bit of Borderlands 3 :shifty: .
Erm, I have it downloaded I think so is it any good :fp: .

Having Game Pass and a shitty memory means it's just like a huge jumbled pile of games in that I just see the pile and go "Yeah, that's a thing that exists!" and just kind of let it just carry on existing without actually doing anything with it.

Single Player campaign definitely worth a play through

I guess the multiplayer/Trophies are dependent on how much you like Gears and how good you are. It's a good game but it's grindy and the standard on ranked at least is high. even in the silver regions.

While I've completed Gears 1,2 and 3 multiple times I just kind of hated 4 as the robots were shite so I quite like the series overall.

I've only ever played the multiplayer during the Gears 5 beta and I was lets say gooseberry fool as I play as a medic or mechanic when I play multiplayer games and need team coms so I can run about doing healer type stuff.

Have you tried the horde? You can do the engineer thing as Del, or the medic thing as Jack.

I finished the campaign yesterday.Final choice depressed me. I chose Del to live, but it made Marcus sad - so i regretted that one. Not sure how the sequel will go with that one.

Still playing horde. Kait and JD are top tier in that with bleed cards, Del the essential engineer, Jack very useful, 4th and 5 players are any of the others. Season 2 starts next week with Baird as a new "hero".
